there's not much in hoopa. i think the nearest motel would be in willow springs(?. i can't find my cal road map right now). it's the town where the 96 meets the 299. about 15 to 20 mintues from hoopa. hope this helps.

I was waiting until I heard something from you. Did you hear back? I keep on forgetting to bring the phone number to work.

grant/randal, give me a call when you have a chance. i'm looking at places to stay, and wondering if the five of us don't want to split a cabin or something. there are some nice and surprisingly reasonable places up there.

It will be interesting to see how our cars compare in a hillclimb. I think my car's torque and fat tires are definitely going to help, but you will have a weight advantage.

your car is faster, no doubt. my car would better excel in quick transitions (lower polar moment; less weight), but it doesn't look like so terribly much of that here. that's alright -- i've got the reflexes of a younger man!

joking aside, let's remind each other to keep the red mist under control, lest we start competing. i'd like to bring the same car back that i went up in. i'll drive at 8/10ths, but no more.

Driving fast on a paved hillclimb is about being smooth and taking the right line and less about reflexes. You'll probably need those "superior" quick reflexes to compensate for that cowboy backwoods "wish I were a county fair dirt track driver" style of yours. ...Sorry we dont have a cowboy smilie! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Dont worry about red mist I have a healthy respect for trees. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yoda.gif)

It looks like fun guys, even with such a crappy video. I wish you both luck, I would really like to go. If you come back with glowing reports I'll go for it next year.

I have left messages and email now with no confirmation. I'm screaming busy right now. So I may just pull out of this event. I dont have the flexibility to wait until the last minute.

Cool! I will be checking on places to stay over the weekend. Let me know if you find anything. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Haven't had a chance to do much investigation on places to stay for this event ...went from crazy day at work to Bastille Day party and just got home a little while ago. I will be chasing down a trailer or a dolly tomorrow. Also looking for fire extinguisher and arm restraints.

Anyone going to have an extra seat? I might be interested in riding along and hanging out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
