I've replaced a ton of rear wheel bearings, always using a press. Not really hard, but it's a bit of a pain to get everything square.

Yesterday I had the chance to use the ~$250 tool. WOW!!! It's worth every penny. We did two bearings and pulled the hubs in under 30 minutes. I think I need to buy one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I would definatly recommend it to anyone who is going to do bearings.
