There is one way to get a concourse car, do what 2 guys here did. Buy it brand new and park it in the garage. The first one was a Buick (hot sport model?) now 8-10 yrs old 22km on it & a guy at work has a Prowler with 8km on it.

Hey 914 (almost sounds like a Steely Dan song)!

Do you have any more pics? There is a thread for club members rides, you should post a couple nice shots there!

there was recently a factory 914-6 resto for sale what was as new as you can get. this was my all-time dream car. signal orange with tasteful upgrades (911s brakes, 2.7RS, koni's, etc, etc). everything on this car was brand new. it was on the market a long time and just sold recently (when I was just now in a better position to buy it!). anyone on here the new owner? this car probably sold for $25k, which I find to be a great deal.

that is just sick man ...

i just had my car completely stripped and sandblasted,
spent 5k+ on a decent paint-job and it looks quite nice
(from the top anyways) but nothing like THIS car ...

makes me wonder why my dad didn't think about buying a 914/6 new when they came
out and garage it for me. arrghhhh ...

sad, sad, sad ...

Hmm, looks like Dean Vanni's car. He's been showing that in the Zone 7 concours events (complete with photo album of the resto) for something like eight or ten years. Took 1st place in the 914 division at the 2000 Parade in Sac'to. (Though I liked the green 914-6 better myself...)

I drool over these shots every time. Here is the place that did the resto on the orange car(along with some pics):
Deman Motorsport

The yellow one from this site was in excellence about a year ago.

deman are the ones who did this orange car.

the pics are kinda big and resizing doesn't do the car justice. if you want to see them grab 914-6 zip file

Interesting that Deman used a rear sway bar on the car (with old bushings) LOL.. new ones are white. I used to sell parts to Rick quite a bit back in the early/mid 90's. He put his Yellow car up for sale right after the Excellence feature.

B you're quite a CW after all...I had lost all hope...

Don't the euro lenses (on a USA car) just make you shudder?

Jeff,

Attend a Concourse with me some time. After seeing so many 914's built with incorrect parts.. you learn to appreciate STOCK.

I walked up to Dean Vanni's 914/6 at the Monterrey Historics and told him he had the wrong dash in the car (grain pattern was incorrect for a 1970 914) He wasnt happy ("but I bought it new from Porsche"... he said)

I know what it takes to do one "correct"

The EURO lenses dont really bother me considering the red ones are/where NLA.

Dont EVER ask me to pick a car apart (visually+verbally)

I think (almost sure) this 914-6 was for sale on evil-bay not too long ago. I don't know if it sold or not. Montreal is about a 3hr drive from here, been many times, cool place.

Thats a great idea Brad and I think you should offer a session at the next Concours for anyone interested. I am sure you would have several people interested in a BR pre-judging judging. We have much to learn...

I purchased the Orange 914-6 from Montreal. This is my first 914. I purchased it for less than what was posted and got an extra set of Fuchs with track tires and a racing seat too. Some of the cars I had looked at were $10-15k and poorly restored. I'm happy with my purchase and I feel it can only go up in value.

Where can I get the correct sway bar mounts?
