was wondering because the early /4 use the same pads as a /6. the later /4's have their own pads.

/6 pads are bigger right?

The /6 REAR pads are bigger than the /4 rear pads. In fact
most of the time I see errors from many parts places that
list the same rears for both. The /6 rear is the same as the
early (pre 73) /4 front pad.

... And you have to drill one of the pad holes bigger to fit the pin.

Maybe I missed your real question: The /6 front calipers are
different from the /4, the pads may be the same size, but the
pistons are a lot bigger (in the same ratio of 19mm/17mm
master cylinder, BTW). The later /4 pads were thicker, not
bigger.

thanks for clearing that up- one can buy new 914/6 rear calipers for ~ 400 apiece (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

oops! thats for front calipers- sorry ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

really ? do tell where, please ...

BTW - it doesn't affect the pads, but the /6 front caliper is also wider to accommodate the vented disk...
