Got "something" in my eye yesterday, flushed the eye, looks like I got whatever it was out..

today my eye hurts like a #$%^&%#$ is tearing non stop..

until I can get to the opthamologist tomorrow, what will give some relief?

Im using "gen-teal gel " severe eye relief, it helps some.. anything better?

I would go to urgent care if I were you, they say anytime you have that kind of constant pain you should see a doctor immediately.

you might have scratched your retina....they need to give you special stuff

dang tim, i know that can be really painful as it's happened to me on a few occasions when i was a carpenter.
no, i'm not a doctor. =-)

i'd go to the E.R. and have them look at it.

they'll put some flourescent dye in your eye which should show if anything is still in there.

it'll only get worse till "it" is removed.

Thing about the local hospital..

If I go to the E.R. now.. for something as minor as "something in the eye" Ill be waiting until at least tomorrow morning to see someone..

It doesnt feel to bad now.. just a bit irritated

I don't know if it was chemical or dirt you have mentioned but if you turn your eye around and it hurts in the same spot it could be a splinter which if metal, needs to be removed ASAP before it rusts. Rust can't be removed from your eye and the tears will accelerate the process faster! I have a stye in my eye which was made by a wood splinter when I was a kid. Its a black spot which when my eye moves, looks like a bug or mouse running along the floor, walls, UFO in the sky.

i don't know dude....

you cannot replace your eyes..... yes, they can repair them selves in certain circumstances but still....

i wouldn't take any chances with mine. they're priceless. =-)

waiting sucks but you'll probably be glad you did.

Roger is right, they will floures it to see if it is ulcerated and then perscribe you $80 eye drops to numb it. They will give you a cane drug drop immediately to help with the pain. Basically, your cornae is the most innervated part of your body as far as pain receptors go, thus a scratch hurts like a bitch. The good news is that is heals fast, too. I did this two years ago and tried to tough it out....no friggen way. Red-beard ended up insisting that I get the eye drops and then he bought htem for me (he is one on=f my best friends, obviously).

It will likely be red, and tearing. this is normal. Any loss of vision is cause for concern. DO NOT RUB IT! You can wick away the tears with the corner of a napkn, tissue, etc indirectly. As for Dr care, if you feel you need to you probably should. you cant be too carful.

If you are sure you removed the offending implement, I've used a little triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) with good results (not the cream). If you think about all the horrible things you've gotten in your eyes over the years, suddenly a little antibiotic doesn't seem so bad. It also adds lubrication which will feel better.

As Dr. Evil said, don't rub!

If it stays inflamed once you've given it a chance to rest a bit, it's time for professional help.

Eye Dr. in the house (actually my Father-In-Law) - You have a cornial abrasion and you need antibiotic eye drops. If you want relief you need to go to the emergency room.

Holy schmidt! If he scratched his retina he will need an eye patch for life. Since it is on on the interior posterior orbit.

Sounds like a corneal abrasion. Urgent care...

Well I had a minor surgical procedure performed in the Opthamologists office today.

Apparently a shard of metal land perfectly in the center of my pupil. And like has been mentioned proceded to start to rust. I asked the Doc for copies of the digital images of the procedure to share, but he wouldnt go there..

I dont know where the shard of metal is from. I hadnt done any work on my car that day.. sometimes the brakes from subway trains give off metal shards..

He also said that if I went to the ER all they would have done is give me some drops to numb the eye, and told me to see a specialist on monday (today)


So for now I have a few days off from work, and an eye patch ala Pirates of the caribbean.
