Just got a new 914, and the speedo bounces all over the place. The previous owner said he replaced it, and the replacement started doing the same thing a few days later. Any idea what would cause this?

You should check the condition of the speedo cable, sometimes they pass too close to the engine and kind of get cooked. Not too bad to replace if it's the culprit.

Thanks!

It sounds like like I will need to take the dash out, and pull the speedo to change the cable. I will try swapping it with the one in my 71

Your speedo cable is kinked somewhere - I'm guessing your speedo bounces alot (wide range of readings) and at high speeds kinda settles down (smaller range of readings).

Ask me how I know...
