i know this will start a war.....but why does everyone love fuchs 2.0 wheels so much. first i'll start off by saying,, they are great wheels..light...forged..strong..probably the best wheel for a 914..........But
everyone thinks they are the holy grail of wheels for a 914. I'm old enough to remember when the 914's first came in the market in the 70's and when i saw the "upgrade" wheels I thought why didn't they put REAL fuchs on like on the 911's. the ones on the 914 looked cheap. fire away >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> |

They did. On the 914-6.
The 914-4 had to be kept down below the 911. The only reason the 2.0 Fuchs are the 'hole grail' is because the pickings are so thin. |

I agree..I don't think the 4 lug Fuchs are as attractive as the five lugs.
Personally....a nice wide chrome steelie with a classy hubcap is best look on a 914..... |

Does it really matter why people like them? It is entirely subjective. If ya like 'em, put 'em on. If not, don't. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Before I knew any better I asked a buddy about his unpainted 2.0 Fuchs,
"What's with those garbage can lids on your car?" |

i like four bolt fuches....
i like 5 bolt fuches i llike steelies of all sorts.... i like cookies..... i like bbss..... i like anything that fills the wheel well..........the wider the better i am easy to please.....just cram the biggest tire you can on the rim!! the only reason i would switch to five bolt is for suspension/ brake reasons .... |

4-bolt Fuchs are cheap for their weight, much cheaper than 5-bolt Fuchs. Their styling fits the car well, much better than a lot of the more recent lightweight wheels, which generally aren't available in the right bolt pattern, or are too wide, or are very expensive, or are too flimsy for street use.
I like 5-bolt Fuchs. I like 5-bolt Mahles even better. I just don't like paying for them. |

Light, forged, strong. You said it yourself. What more reason do you need? They look good, too, which is a bonus, and they're generally relatively affordable. Prices for used ones run about the same as 6x15 5 bolt Fuchs. The Cap'n

Way back when, in the late 70's early 80's that I got into the 914's I did not know the names of the wheels.
Just by looking at most of them I said, Hey I like that one best. I turned out to be a fuch. Now times have changed, everyone has them. Different color 914's need different type wheels to set them off. I no longer think of them as the holy grail. Mahles are good sometimes empies, and others. Shoot, I really like the moon pie wheels to set them off. It is all personal perference. |

Why do people like Tool? Why do people like Ice Dancing? Why do people like pickles? Why do people like HP? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Sorry, I couldn't help myself. TOOL rocks, that's why people like them... Ice dancing is gay... pickles can be ok Fuchs... QUOTE they are great wheels..light...forged..strong you already said it... plus they have the right backspacing and offset and look great for not having to go 5-lug.... the niceer 4-lug wheels like the revolutions and modern 914 rims will cost 3-5 times as much as a set of fuchs... so, fuchs a re great if you want to stay 4 lug, spend less than 1000 and have a good rim for the car it goes on... they are practical (IMG:style_emoticons/default/givemebeer.gif) |
