He's right Sammy. Those all started life as tub cars. I visit with Wayne Baker a couple of times a month to learn about all the SoCal 914's that where raced. Amazing how similar the cars where to the NorCal guy's. Wayne was involved with AJ and Mistak for years. Aj's shop is 6 minutes from Wayne's.

Mistak's later recreation of the red car is hardly the red 914-6 pictured it once was. ury probably has that article too

Yup, the thing turned pretty wild. Here are a couple of pics that VegasRacer took at, well, Vegas a while back. Mistak is a good buddy and I often go to the track and play crew-chief.

Don't see much teener in there anymore....

Just to prove the IS a little 914 left...

'Nuther VegasRacer pic from the same event. The 914 door sills, part of the floor panels, part of the firewall, and part of the front fender wells are still there and matbe a few other 914 shavings. It was legal in PCA club racing as a914 when it was built several years ago.

Hey, those are my sneakers in the background!

Here is a link to the magazine photos and article that I was asking if anyone knew where it went.
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?show...c=24677&hl=

I am still looking for the 1987 IMSA Sebring race 914-6 car from the Altman bros.

Thanks Quilmes.
If you want I can try to re-scan the article for you.

Wayne Baker's GTU car was the first complete tube chassis production based IMSA car.

He built this one when the Porsche 911 GT1 was in vogue in the FIA GT Championship. The body work is sort of a reduced scale version of it.

Mistak's GT1 car started life as the red Alan Johnson time trial car. It says so in the Excellance article and shows a picture of it with those big red rear fenders still in place. The car is 914 based, not a complete tube frame.

The blue John Bond Jr. car is the AIR car.

The Vonk car was converted back to the Kermer GT car.

There is also the black Altec-Lancing car which used the same bodywork by AIR.

And there was a white clone of the Altec-Lansing car.

One of the Atltec cars became the Cerwin Vega car and was silver for a time.

These are all seperate car as far as I know.

Where are they now.......
