I hope pete doesn't get a call to talk about a wheel lodged in somebody's windshield! I bet it happened where you have to take the sharp ramp to get onto rt 3. he was flat towing right? I could see how he might not have known if there were three other wheels on the ground.

i can see how you would'nt notice a 914 with only 3 wheels. hell mine ran on 3 cylinders all summer and i never knew.
point here is everyone who can afford the membership should do it. we need to keep the club going. maybe make dr. evil an east cost admin. then

launch an ipo
sell shares
take the club public
insider trading
federal indictments
914's on 60 minutes= increased resale value
the future has never seen brighter! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

That's the best yet!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Maybe New Yorkers shouldn't own 914's. It's an attitude thing.

That is just too funny.

Next time I need a business plan, I'm going to consult with "The Chef" (that even sounds like a nickname used on a RICO indictment).

I did try to look for the wheel but the exit (1 exit past Grove St on Rte 3 heading wetbound) did not allow for me to comb the side of the road for more than about 200 meters. I took the Beetle on about 4 runs circling back & looked for the wheel while driving but it was dark and a lot of traffic (a shock in NJ...).

I knew something was amiss which is why I pulled over - couldn't have been driving on it for more than 1/2 mile. It was slow moving traffic & I didn't see any accidents when I circled back w/the Beetle. Damn thing is that I pulled into a gas station about2 miles earlier b/c the rear engine lid flipped up and I couldn't see the magnetic tail lights I'd hooked up... there were 4 wheels during that quick "pit stop". A couple quick minutes later only 3 wheels!!!

The effort the group made to get me moving was beautiful...

Thats great that no one got hurt (as far as we know) AND the car is fine, a PO with my 914 forgot to tighten his lugs, and when the rear wheel came off, it tucked up into the fender and screwed it up royally. Then the PO did a real shitty repair! Last thing Ray's old car needs is more accident damage!

Pete, hows the grad school app process going? I'm in the thick of apps and studying for GREs. Good times! Maybe some point this winter we will have a NEW field trip to help you with your 914 repiars/swap.

Funny you mention that... 2 of the fenders already needed repaired/replaced but now 3 of them do... I bought up a set of steel flares from a club member and pick them up this week. I have a replacement fender for the right front, now I just need a pair of rears, rear deck lid, and rear end panel. I've got a line on most of the parts - the cost of getting the put on correctly is the tough part... I've been thinking of buying a welder and trying to do it myself. We'll see

pete, i would say to buy a welder and do it yourself...if you practice and take your time it will come out great, if you spend about 1k, you can get a pretty decent welder setup (thats what i spent) and in the end, you have your car, AND a welder...instead of just a car

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Its not too difficult to learn. Biggest issue is prep, to get good welds you need to have clean metal!

Anyway, good luck with the studying and applying process.

Pete, hows the grad school app process going?

I have a decent score on the GMAT already but it's prob not good enough for Columbia. I'm giving myself a bit of a breather (just left the job on Friday) and will start studying this week after things get settled here in Buffalo. I've interviewed with Notre Dame twice (2nd time was w/the director of admissions) so I'm going to use ND as my fall back school if GMAT's don't work out when I retake the test on 10-Jan. I've got nothing the time to study - just a matter of rolling up my sleeves! Getting into business school is my new full time job.

Good luck with Grad school! I started, completed 6 and attempted 12 before I took a break. The school kept changing my classes (from 7:30->5:30) and work kept holding me late. Hopefully with my new job, I'll be able to get going on it again before my GMAT expires. (Now if I could only dredge up more from my Stats classes...)

We'll see. BTW, Drew - I'm heading to Boston Wed and staying through Thus night (going to VT Fri morning). Not sure if I'd have time to meet up but thought I'd let you know I"m in town anyway.
