Get your mind out of the gutter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So I'm assembling the drive axles and those pesky cv joints won't stay put. One I accidentaly dropped and it came apart, the other, well, it basically came apart too.

I've heard reassembly to be similar to solving the rubiks cube...never did it without taking it apart or just changing the stickers.

Tips and tricks?

(and no AA, don't offer any tricks again, sheesh) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mrs.K.gif)

Swood,

I so want to tell you the solution.

But I can't steal away the gift of you figuring it out on your own.....

Go for the Rubics cube bro...

NOTE: One side of the CV is different than the other.

Yeah, I looked, found a little here, little there. Oh well. I've been playing with it a while now and got it back together, tried to mate the stub axle to the cv and it got all outa wack again. I'm sure there is some *real* way to do it, I'll try it again later. It's probably a two man gig for me.

On the lighter side, I did make some progress with the problem I was having with the front camp914 shox. The stock mounting bracket (over the wheel well) was basically being shagged by the shock....so off it goes.

Went to Trekkor's store and got some angle iron and made up a new mounting bracket. Next I'll tack it on and and make sure it's in the right spot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

follow the red spots..pay attention to the how the "point" goes to the "wide" section of the mating part.

starting at the top picture, if both hands are on the CV at the 9 and 3 o'clock postion, your fingers on your left hand would be pushing "up" while your thumb on the right hand would be pushing down.

When the middle section is about 90° to it's original postion, it will slide right out (with a little help, but not much)

reassembly is reverse...

Oh see now we're talkin!

Thanks Mike!

I guess my problem is losing the cv's composure when trying to mate it to the stub axle.

For Cripes Sakes Mike....

Don't make it easy for him....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya see... I have a plan....

What you guys don't know... Is that Swood smokes really good Cuban cigars on occasion.

AND... If SWOOD can't get something together... (I.E. CVs)

He just might PM ME..!!! to help him... Not likely... But there is a chance.

PLAN A:

I go to his house.. eat the BOMB BBQ.

Pretend I know some shit... Put a couple of nuts on a bolt or something...
Sound reasonably intelligent. Pretend I am Mike Mueller for a few minutes...

And Voila...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get to smoke his kick ass cigars....

So PLEASE... Stop helping the guy... I can't take it....

Guys... Your killing my game......... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, Kapt., I was referring to seeing right thru Claytonia's master plan.

I will host another flesh roasting for the pre-determined "Four and No More" group again soon. We will wine, dine, and grind on my whip, making mucho progresso again soon.

if you access to a band saw and a drill press (or mill)

I "think" a tool like this could hold the CV...the rectangle part would clamp the axle, the protruding rod would go into one of the holes of the CV, this would prevent it from moving too much..only problem I see is that the rod would have to be pretty long and getting it clamped to the axle for easy removal might be a PITA...the block should be 2 piece, I "forgot" the split line on the top (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There's also a nice thread in the Lapuwali Classics Threads forum.

CV joints again

Maybe we can even convince Mueller to post his pics over in that thread?
