I am kind of suprised at the lumping of all 915's into one group. I suspect that the 915 from the 85 - 86 carrera's would hold up just fine under 400ish hp. I have a 915 behind my 3.6 right now and it has not given me any grief.

It was interesting to read that the 915 would only be 1K difference from the prescribed 10K 930 trans build ... You can buy a 915 for about 850 ish then have a fresh rebuild with a LSD and a wevo kit for about 5K... the 8:31 ring gear is fine... depending on your tire size ... my 74 911 runs down the freeway at about 2650 rpm at 70 mph in 5th gear.

At any rate I supose that I am about to prove myself wrong or right since I will be using precisely that trans in my new project It will be sitting behind an LS1 so time will tell if it will hold up. If not then I can always have 2 915's for the cost of 1 930 trans or 3 915s for the cost of a g50 upgrade.
