There is a place here in Santa Clara that has Aluminum 3000lb floor jacks for $100. Since Brad is getting a new shop with more space, he will need some new floor jacks to be able to work on more cars at the same time.

So far, I have 7 people who have committed to pitching in...one of which has already made a contribution of $20. Let see if we can get a few more people who would be willing to pitch in to reduce the cost for all (power in numbers).

If we can get more than just a few people pitching in then maybe we can get him two aluminum floor jacks or some jack stands or something else he might need for his new shop. Just think, every time you get you car worked on by Brad or just buying parts from him your contribution will have helped him out.

Anyway, either send me a private message or post something here if you would like to contribute. You can send some money to my paypal account (britain@britainsmith.com).

You should also check out the auctions I have up, these are Brad's parts also to contribute to the new shop fund.

Britain,

Can you do me a favor? If I send you the money, can you pick up a 12-pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and give it to Brad for his birthday? A jack is nice too, but I think Brad should get something he can really enjoy.

A couple of other people asked me what I wanted for my B-day and I responded:

A couple of hits of Viagra and the Coors twins.

The floorjack will work.

Thanks Paul for the Sierra Nevada thought. Lately we have been cheap and drinking Corona's.

It's really fun being involved with such a big group. This past year has had some serious high's and some serious lows.

Take the $40.00 that B owes me for the CAMP 914 rear trunk shox kit and put it towards the B BDAY fund drive.

As we get older.. lugging around the heavy jacks at the track sucks.

That's a cool looking jack. A couple of years ago at Daytona I was going to buy one of these fast action racing jacks. I talked to the salesman for a while. I told him I wanted to use it in my shop. He told me that was not a good idea. These jacks need a rebuild almost every year, because of the ratio six pumps to full lift. Also, it is very hard to jack something up just a fraction of an inch or so when installing something, again, because of the ratio. They are really made for one purpose and not a good shop jack. But, if that's what he wants, cool, it his birthday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

This one is geared more for shop use. You also have to factor in: I really only deal with 2000lb 914's and not 3500lb Winston Cup cars (that was last year).. so.. it should be fine with the little cars. I typically have to buy a new jack once a year anyway. None of them last.

Alright everyone...if you said that you are going to contribute to the Brad's B-day fund, please send your desired amount to my paypal address:

britain@britainsmith.com

or send it snail mail to the address in one of the above posts. Once we determine how much we have in total, we can determine which aluminum floor jack and where to get it. I will leave the contribution giving campaign going on till Monday morning...and then go get it then and take it to Brad.

Everyone pitch in...thanks to those who already have.
