Hi all--just took delivery of an incredible 914-6 this past week. Previous owner has babied and taken care of the car the last 20 years. Previous multiple Parade Concours Best of Class winner. Need a few things addressed to bring her back to Concours level and would like recommendations on a one stop shop (or person with shop willing to work with me to do the work) near Columbus, Ohio. I would love to learn how to do this work but don't have the facility, tools and expereince to do it right. Here's what I looking to do:

1) rechrome back bumper
2) touch up small paint cracks on rear valence
3) repair minor paint bubbles and respray on rear trunk lid
4) strip, seal and restore mufflers/heat exchangers to original primer gray look
5) paint rear shocks to match original glossy gray look (correct??)
6) strip and recontact cement basketweave coming loose on dash panels (easy right??)
7) freshen up all guage faces to new (unless this deters from value or concours--they have a slight yellow cast to them)
8) clean up and respray wheel wells to body color (correct?)
9) clean up engine bay and top end of motor and housing (need to pull engine to do this or not??)

Let me know your thoughts on expected costs and trustworthy shops here. I'll shoot some pix this weekend when the weather is better!!!

Thanks--John

Just an update guy's,
I picked the 914/6 up today around 1:30pm and trailerd it back to my shop Autobahn Garage in Findlay Ohio. John is a very nice person, It was great to meet him face to face and talk about the direction that he want's the project to go. As if you cannot tell in the pictures this is one NICE 914/6!!! It needs a few things but it's 30 plus years old, they all need a little work now and then. That beenig said I plan to start the project in the next few days and give John a list of the things I think need to be looked at and repaired or replaced to make this car all it can be.

If there is anyone in the area that would like to stop by and have a look (but not touch) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) at Very nice 914/6 do so. I will keep you guy's updated as I move foward on it. Oh I forgot to mention Autobahn Garage is located at 642 rockwell ave in Findlay Ohio 419-957-7210 call me or just stop by. John's pride and joy is setting next to a dozen or so Porsches in the shop.

Looking to get Tab's outline and estimate's in the next day or so then we will target a few small projects so I can drive the car some time in May. I'll ask him to document before/progress/after shots and post on this site.

Also getting the '76 2.0 back on the road this weekend after getting the rear wheel straightened out--great ride and handling with the Forgeline 17's (running Toyo Proxes 205/40R 17's on them) but one good chuck hole or curb and it's another $100-250 to straighten out the wheel and often replacing the tire!!!

Here's what the 4 looks like when she's not sick!!

Enjoy!!
