Thanks to a fellow board member I got the dial indicator to set my crank end play. My issue is that teh spacers measure .010" and I have an end play measurement of .009"? Are there spacers that measure less. After pulling two motors all spacers I have are the same thickness. Any suggestions?

Shims in 24,26,28,30,32,34,36 thickness. They are still available from Porsche or any place selling VW Bus parts.

Just pulling this off the top of my head (maybe the other end however)
.002 to .005 is the end play #
With all the shims out you should have LOTS more than .009 even on a new motor.

My new motor required like .034 worth of shims it took 3 shims to make up the stack.

Are you measuring right?
