Some answers:
- You can get it done in one day, but with me teaching and answering lots of questions it will be a loooong day so be prepared. I am willing to start in late morning on Fri if that is cool with Trevor. I also work late (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) - Cost thus far is $300 for the class if you bring a tranny and I help you rebuild it. If anyone wants to stop by and bring a gear stack just to be diagnosed then no charge. I always diagnose for free. - Observers are encouraged and welcome for free. - No 915 this time. I think about 3 people have asked me, though so maybe in the future. TWO THINGS TO DO BEFORE I GET THERE: 1) Drain your tranny! Please. Do not bring full trannies to the clinic. IF, you can not get those dang plugs out to drain it dont fret, just bring the nasty beast to the clinic and I will get the plug out, but please bring a container with you for the oil so you can take it home (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) 2) Pull your gear stack out following the instructions in my "tranny rebuild" link in my signature. Do this so you can inspect the pinion shaft teeth. If they are galled you will need another core and I would hate to waste your time. If you can not do this, let me know so we can work something out ahead of time to prepare for the wost. Rob, I PMed you about parts and such. Feel free to ask me questions so we can get you set up. |

I just did some research on gears for those of you that contacted me about wanting to customize.
I talked to Glenn at Carquip, real nice guy with great customer service skills, and they have what you need. The gears are not all cheap, though. For short stack M - Used $325 S - NOS $535, used $450 X - Used $325 For the V8 dudes H - Used $325 |

Wow! i just found this thread, this is great. I will be there to watch & learn. Will you be doing any ring/pinion work? I want to go to a quaife lsd and it would be great to install it myself. I also have a core tail shift tranny I can bring if anyone needs parts.
Thanks Doc and Trevor. I look forward to meeting you |

Perhaps in the future I can do an advanced class for just that? However, if you attend this clinic you will easily be able to figure out how to swap the r/p on your own. I look forward to seeing you there! |

FYI, I always like to switch out the old hardware (13mm nuts and washers) with new stainless gear. I plan on providing this to all of the tranny rebuilders (included with price of admission), but to order the right amount I need ya'll to register ASAP. Also, I intend on providing brake cleaner, brushes and some lube for assembly. I am gonna have to get Trevor to hit the dollar store before I get there. You guys will need to bring safety glasses, 13, 14, 19, 10mm sockets and lots of questions. Cardboard would be a good thing too as well as chairs and any portable tables you want to use other wise I figure we will be on the floor (old school) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) I should be okay with Cardboard - after Santa comes - and I've got six to eight chairs as well as a card table. I don't have enough tools for everyone so please bring the requested sockets, safety glasses (safety is no accident - always wanted to say that LOL). T |

I would be interested in coming, if you get enough to make the $100 price. I could also bring some side shift engine mounts if anyone is in need of them. Definitely bring those. I need to source a set for Trevor. I forgot to include them in my parts list for his side shift (duh). Are you going to come and watch? |

Dr. Evil ....I would love to be able to make it out , but just a tad bit too far west for me right now. I do have a tranny that needs a friend though. It is out of my 76 parts car. When I drove it, everything shifts and feels fine, or at least I thought it did, but it will not stay in 5th gear. Had to have a buddy ride with me to hold it in. Could this be an easy fix for some one that has never been into one of these trannys before ??? Maybe I can hang on to it, and if something gets put together a little bit further east, then maybe I could attend a session.
