my 71 after restoration (with several minor items left to go), installed a 74 2.0 drive train. Thank you Wolfgang and guys. Its nice to see that there brothers are euqually nice, if i could like all of us, would have them in every color, be a 6 or a 4. I will leave you guys with some pics of the 914,s and some of the garage too, but will make some new shots tomorrow, have done some painting at the garage, so it lookes a tad better, not to my liking yet, but getting there. Also the RennTransport for the 914,S or at least thats the intention santiago Welcome aboard Santiago! |

Hi, here is my '75 1.8 F.I. acquired last Aug. 2011. A few history of this car, got from my nearby neighbor sitting on his drive way with Non-op with last registration of 2003. We just pushed the car from previous owner house to my house about a quarter mile. Bought new battery, remove the gas tank and amazing the left gas I drained is clean and no rust on the tank, changed all fuel lines underneath the tank (still original rubber fuel lines), replaced all fuel lines along engine and all vacuum lines, changed oil and transmission fluid, changed tires from 165x15 (I believed still the original tires made from Brazil tire) to 185x65x15. I had a hard time starting it until after more trials of starting it, it did start. So did checked and replaced brake pads and some cleaning on the pedals. Still a little bit sticky on the brake pedal. Now I've been using it once in while and running it for about 30 to 40 minutes drive, the temperature does not even go half way of the temp gauge. Still a lot of things to fix on this car but I love driving it even without the 1st gear (issue on the transmission which they said is common on 914).
Before I got it: ![]() How it looks now: |

If you're having a hard time getting first, check the shifter bushings (one at the firewall, the other at the rear shift console) - replace as needed.
If they're OK, try adjusting the linkage. |

Hi sir, I did replaced all the bushings and tried adjusting linkage from stick shift and still 1st gear just make rumbling sound and pops out while releasing the clutch. |

Hi sir, I did replaced all the bushings and tried adjusting linkage from stick shift and still 1st gear just make rumbling sound and pops out while releasing the clutch. It sounds like it's still not adjusted right. Bring it to the G&R swap meet and we'll see if we can assemble a crack team of scientists to fix it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party.gif) |

Sir, what is G&R swap meet? is it a group of 914s? Well, in a nutshell - yes. The G&R is a semi-annual gathering of 914 There happens to be one coming up Sunday, May 6th. If you're free that day, try to attend. Click here for details. And please, quit referring to me as 'Sir' ... makes me feel like an older fart than I am (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

But sunday is my family church service and my wife and I has different ministry that we are doing for our church. Just wondering, do you know about the 914 group that meets every 3rd saturday of the month at the Orange City, CA? Take care! |
