Man, hearing all those Houston streets takes me back. I lived in Tanglewilde near Richmond Gessner and Westheimer. I went to Jesse Jones High School. Man those were good days! I am glad to hear there are some teeners there. I used to see them now and then.

Motor is being rebuiltby Mike Callas. Getting Carrera tensioner upgrade, 911 oil pump upgrade, can rework, new P&C 81mm Stock 8.6:1 compression from JE, and the usual parts like ramps, chains, galleys, bearings, hardware, and the like. Time Serts and Case Savers are not necessary, and this was only 110 hp anyways.

I would have like to rebuild it all myself, but I put off the time and finances were allocated elsewhere. This goes for the Webers as well.

The Gasburners were in pretty bad shape. Last year, I got the magnesium properly rewelded and then powdercoated for good measure. New rubber performance summer tires were then mounted and balanced.

Motor and heaters, tranny, oil lines, and wiring needs to be hooked up after this. Will probably put off restoring the original paint until much later. Running out of steam again.

I hope that you keep this car and just cover it until you can get back to it. Since it was your father's car, it would be a shame to let it go. However, if you decide to sell it, please try to get it to a true enthusiast and not a flipper.

Nice to see your still at it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) Just do what you can when you can. Make it a point to go out to the garage at least one night a week or weekends. You'll get it done. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

Hi, everyone. It's been a while.

The last post was a little over a decade ago. A few jobs (always for the better), a few moves (now a solo homeowner), a divorce (needed to be done), a new relationship (couldn't be happier after 3 years), and a two incredibly significant deaths (I love you).

Rennsport got some parts of the motor back from machining a few weeks ago.

The original paint was not restored. The body was cleaned, dings pulled, sanded, sanded some more, primed, and painted the original L-96D / 925 with 3 coats of clear. Note: Not shown are the painted A-pillars, engine bay, decklid, and trunks. Floor pan also will receive treatment, and the firewall. Insulation is also the plan for the firewall (cab side).

While the paint was stripped, the entire car was scoured for rust, with extra attention to the longs. With the exception of the battery tray replacement, it was rust free. Although this was not a rotisserie job, it is through and through solid, evenly painted, and is examined.

Next on my agenda is cleaning the original hardware, remembering where certain parts go, cleaning the fuel tank, and replacing the lines. Does anyone have recommendations on how to proceed? I read that using a reel of standard rubber fuel was okay, but I was curious how accurate / value would be for the car?

Thank you for reading or just looking at the pics, for any comments and concerns in advance, and for your valuable opinions.

Good to see you kept the 914 and are back at it!

Yes, life can get in the way of things like this. I was without a 914 for 9 years and should have kept most any one of the 914's I'd owned in the past. Would have been way ahead. So cool you kept yours!

Keep the pictures coming!

Sorry for all of the drama in the past; glad you kept the 6. It is looking very nice. For fuel lines, if you mean replacing the lines in the tunnel, I would suggest going with SS lines. Tangerine Racing makes a very nice pre-bent set that works very well and will outlast the car. I have them in my 6 and have never regretted that decision.

Agree 100% with Cairo94507 on using Tangerine Racing Stainless Steel fuel lines as replacement lines. Peace of mind for very little money.
