I am so doing the tape and leaving the lock on, I have my turn indicators on my GSXR stuck to the fairing and rear body work with double sided tape. They have never fallen off. This is a great fuckin idea !

Neal,

You asked "has anyone ever thought of putting lights behind the reflector and use it as a 3'rd brake light ?
I think it would be kind of cool and pretty safe at night, you really could not miss the car. "

I had the very same thought a couple of years ago.
If I'm not mistaken, there is a coating of light gray paint(?) covering the PORSCHE script on the back of the reflectors which would prohibit light to show through. This paint would have to be removed without destroying the letters. I'm not sure if the mounting posts would be visible once the reflector is back lighted. If this would work, I'd wire mine to be on with the tail lights and brighten when the brakes are applied.

I held mine up to a light and you can see through the reflector, the problem is I want to used double side tape and shave off the mounts. There would not be enough room for lamps... I just can't make myself drill holes in the body.

I have one on mine. I did not drill the holes to mount it - instead I used velcro to fasten it. I have had my stock electric trunk release fail to release more than once. After looking into it I found that the arm design does not place the 'core' of the solenoid in the position to produce the most pull. I made a new arm and now it never fails. Had to move the 'core' down about 1/2 in.

Engman,

Has the velcro been strong enough to hold the reflector? I'd hate to loose mine down some back road. Can you tell us what size velcro, strips or dots?

you can get velcro in almost any size you want. If you put two 1 inch strips across
the length of the reflector I don't think it would come off. Velcro is stronger than you think--haven't you seen those velcro walls at the fun parks that people jump and stick to?

Six one inch strips - nope never lost it and there has been very spirited driving with it in place.

Engman, can you take a picture of you refabbed arm and some info on how you did it. Seems like a good mod to make.

In my best Dr. Evil voice - "I used a Laser".

Made one at work - what else do you do when you have access to a 4000W laser?

Seriously though - it is in the car and mounted. do not know when I will get to a pic.
