Are these retaining wires still available and if so where? Are they actually needed? There aren't any in my heads...

Pretty sure you need them.

Try local bug shops or post a wtb ad.

I broke one once and was able to find a replacement fairly easily.

Yes it needs them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Sense they come (2)in every engine (except yours (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )

there should be plenty of them floating around out there. Put a WTD in the

classifieds.

They are available new from Porsche. I just bought 2 sets last year for my engine and the next one I am building... I do not recall price but they weren't too expensive. They did have to come from Germany though...
