As there aren't 5 clear nominations & seconds... I'd like to add a nomination myself.

I nominate Dr Evil pre-accident 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Here are some early pictures of the car...

I'm sure someday soon, he'll be driving another car... just as nice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I nominate another Steve (stevesc_us)!
Love his Irish Green 914-6 with a 3.2 conversion!

Thanks Tom for the nomination. As a point of clarification, the color is actually Metallic Green, not Irish Green.

If I had an image I would nominate Headrages' conversion. He spent enough money on it to be considered. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I am biased but I would like to nominate my Dad's 1970 914 at the Porsche Parade in Hershey PA a few years ago.

Not to offend anyone, there are some really nice concours here as in Steves and others.
What I want to see is what someone that has taken a lessor 914 and made it a jewell!
Therefore I want to nominate Rusty's aurborgine.
Just makes since to me that he made a nice car.
He made it happen.
How did he do it?
Shouldn't we all be able to?

Hi John,

Thank you for the kind words... but I'm going to have to decline for two reasons, Sir.

1. I help facilitate the contest. I don't feel it would be appropriate.
2. I didn't build the car. I bought it and Dr. Evil arranged the paint and upholstery. I've done some work on it since, but Doc did all the footwork and coordination... It wasn't my sweat involved. I'm grateful to him.

But I'm really honored... thank you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The car I nominated is John Peterson's. His screen name is Elvira named after the car Elvira. I hope that helps. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hey Mike...

I was going to send the below in a PM... but maybe it's better that I post it.

I think you mean "VegasRacer"... he may be "Elvira" elsewhere. Your nomination for that car puts me in a difficult situation.

The purpose of the contest is to recognize stellar cars in our community and to encourage participation. When I designed the contest, I borrowed the general format from another forum I participate in. The contest rules have always been that active members can nominate cars belonging to other active members... we waived that for Howie (for reasons that are blindingly obvious).

The owner is around, but doesn't hang out here anymore... I don't know why. He hasn't been here since February.

If you were me, how would you handle it? We do have contest rules that are pretty clear. I don't want to be a complete hardcase... but where do I draw the line?

I'll second Elvira. John has been busy with a new house and many other things. He hasn't posted on "other" sites as frequently as he used to.

Rusty, you yourself, have been absent for periods of time and for damn good reasons.

Hell, everybody 'cept those of us with no life, take a vacation from these sites.

Just my opinion.

It's your contest. Handle it how you see fit. Considering one of your own admins gave it a "second", I'm not sure what the problem is.

***edit*** I'm not sure why you are in a difficult situation but clearly you feel like you are. That said, it was not my intention. I simply nominated John's car because I think it is one of the most dialed-in 914's out there. Like I said in my initial post, it serves duties from full weekends at the track to daily driving with nothing more than a different set of tires put on it. The car is dead-on reliable and it looks great everywhere it goes. When I think of a short list of 914's that I would like to own, John's car is on that list every time. In fact, I keep my 914 calendar open to the month that his car is featured with the other black 914's. That was the motivation for my nomination of his car. However, if you feel otherwise, I am not offended if you don't include it.

I think if they have been active within a 12 month period they should be considered active (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Who knows. They may have just been lurking when they had a chance but are too busy to post. I think he falls into the guidelines.

Hell, John's a good guy. He's in. Even though he's not participating here... we still love him. Hopefully, he'll come back when he's ready. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Please... no angry PMs for me changing the rules I posted mid-contest... we're all friends here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)
