I'm noticing that 914 owners also seem to own or have owned BMW's too. I'm wondering if this is an indicator of future 914 or BMW owners. Or it could just indicate that we just have a higher automotive pain threshold.

as much as I would like to count my POS Chrysler as "German" it's more Japanese... almost every part says Mitsubishi <_<
but since it's been a load of trouble, it's best to just call it american... fits better

Sorry but I drive VWs, owned 7 in my 24 years of driving. Wife drives Audis and now a Volvo.

Can't afford newer Porsches.

Oh, and I can't forget one '01 Chevy Suburban. It's great for towing and a good daily driver.... I know polar opposite of a 914.

I started on VW's (still have my 73 westy), moved on to 914's (drove mine last night...can't wait till the weather warms up a little more), I have a 90 BMW 325is as my daily driver, and my Dad has an 82 Merc 300 turbo desiel as his...so I guess you could say I am a glutten for punishment (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)

Its funny how different these cars are, however, they all have a similar feel to them ...

Come on, you should've at least included VW as another car in the poll!

My sig. has all my vehicles (minus the '89 MasterCraft wave-runner that NOBODY has parts for (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) ).

I also would have thought there will be enough VWs to justify having it's own category.

Owned a bunch of VW's. I drive an F150 at the moment. I'm really hoping to move into a used Boxster or mid-late-90's M3 within the next 2 years.

Current stable looks something like this... Wife drives a 1998 Jetta. I've got my 1969 and 1967 Beetle projects. Then my early-1990 16v Jetta GLI beater. Then the 1975 914 project and 1976 part-project car.

There's more but suffice to say, most are VW's (KG, Oval etc.)

Air Cooled -
Your probably right - my mistake. The reason I didn't include a "914 and VW owner" line because I felt they were too closely aligned to be considered different manufacturers (much like VW and Audi today). This VW and 914 question could be the basis for another pole.
However, I should have included the question of how many people have had Andy in their garage.

This is my daily driver... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)

305K miles on the original motor! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
I have gone through the entire car minus the motor. I have a new (used 100K) motor on a stand now that will be transplanted later this year.

She has been a daily/track car since I purchased in '98.

(IMG:http://home.comcast.net/~mark_seiferth/Signature.jpg)

The 914/6 will fill the track role very nicely... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif)

My mom drives a 3 series BMW, E46. Then, I also have a 944 that is undergoing conversion to 8 cylinder. Since I still live at home, she counts, right?
