I'm noticing that 914 owners also seem to own or have owned BMW's too. I'm wondering if this is an indicator of future 914 or BMW owners. Or it could just indicate that we just have a higher automotive pain threshold.

I have SirAndy tied up in the garage, does that count? laugh.gif unsure.gif
So far, its only the 914....
fiid
Nope - all our other cars are Japanese (never though I would say that!) Subaru Impeza 2.5RS and Mazda Miata (sport pack).
tat2dphreak
as much as I would like to count my POS Chrysler as "German" it's more Japanese... almost every part says Mitsubishi <_<
but since it's been a load of trouble, it's best to just call it american... fits better
Mort 914
Sorry but I drive VWs, owned 7 in my 24 years of driving. Wife drives Audis and now a Volvo.

Can't afford newer Porsches.

Oh, and I can't forget one '01 Chevy Suburban. It's great for towing and a good daily driver.... I know polar opposite of a 914.

Mort 914

Yellow 73 914
Red 99 VW Jetta
Blue 99 Volvo C70
Black 01 Suburban

I started on VW's (still have my 73 westy), moved on to 914's (drove mine last night...can't wait till the weather warms up a little more), I have a 90 BMW 325is as my daily driver, and my Dad has an 82 Merc 300 turbo desiel as his...so I guess you could say I am a glutten for punishment chair.gif

Its funny how different these cars are, however, they all have a similar feel to them ...

Come on, you should've at least included VW as another car in the poll!

My sig. has all my vehicles (minus the '89 MasterCraft wave-runner that NOBODY has parts for mad.gif ).

I also would have thought there will be enough VWs to justify having it's own category.

Owned a bunch of VW's. I drive an F150 at the moment. I'm really hoping to move into a used Boxster or mid-late-90's M3 within the next 2 years.

Current stable looks something like this... Wife drives a 1998 Jetta. I've got my 1969 and 1967 Beetle projects. Then my early-1990 16v Jetta GLI beater. Then the 1975 914 project and 1976 part-project car.

There's more but suffice to say, most are VW's (KG, Oval etc.)

Air Cooled -
Your probably right - my mistake. The reason I didn't include a "914 and VW owner" line because I felt they were too closely aligned to be considered different manufacturers (much like VW and Audi today). This VW and 914 question could be the basis for another pole.
However, I should have included the question of how many people have had Andy in their garage.

I have a 2002 2.7 Boxster, a chipped (208 HP )2002 Audi A4 1.8T Qttro, a 74 914 and a wicked 2002 Toyota Echo

305K miles on the original motor! smilie_pokal.gif
I have gone through the entire car minus the motor. I have a new (used 100K) motor on a stand now that will be transplanted later this year.

She has been a daily/track car since I purchased in '98.

The 914/6 will fill the track role very nicely... agree.gif

My mom drives a 3 series BMW, E46. Then, I also have a 944 that is undergoing conversion to 8 cylinder. Since I still live at home, she counts, right?

jfort
I have owned, in order, a VW beetle, a 914-6, 3 911's, an Audi 5000, a BMW 7, a VW Quantum diesel, a Mercedes 300D, a Mercedes 300E, a Mercedes 300SDL and the gray 914-6. I still own the last 4.

Says so in the sig....

Add a 2003 Yukon and a 'murican boat....
914ghost
69' VW Single Cab and 01' VR6 Jetta, ....NEITHER of which get to sit in the garage with the 914.
They're not worthy .. .and the garage is too small.

My winter car is a 1982 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel.

How do I take the poll? I saw a button for new poll but not how to take the poll.
Scott S
used to have a 911, then a 944s. Unfortunately everything other than the 914 is British

That's a weak garage. you need to shoot for 4 cars in a 2 car garage.

That was a rental house when the tennant left, I stored my 914, and my buddy's 3 miatas in there.

My house consists of my dad's 2000 E39, mom's 2002 Honda Odyssey pimp van, my ricer civic, and the torn apart 914.

I don't actually have a garage. sad.gif

I currently own only the 914, but I am emotionally vested in my ex-husband's '66 912 total resto project (which is very nearly complete, such as these things go).

I am also proud to say that I have never owned a car that was not built in West Germany. wub.gif

The List, in order of purchase:

*1967 VW Westphalia
*1966 VW Single cab transporter
*1961 Porsche 356 B coupe
*1965 VW Beetle
*1966 Porsche 912 (this car has always really belonged to Pancho but I did help some with the restoration and I get to drive it sometimes so I'm counting it!)
*1978 or 79 Ford Fiesta (I try not to claim this car 'cuz I hated it but it was built in West Germany)
*1978 Porsche 911 SC
*1976 Porsche 914/4

In my garage:

83 928S (this thing screams from 60mph up!)

Oh, and my wife is 100% German (now you know why I switched from British sports cars!)..

Jim

Besides the pile of woodworking tools, lawn care devices, spare engines, extra rims and tool boxes I have the following items in my two car garage:

1973 914 w/Sheridan Wide Body
1989 944 Turbo
1987 RX7 Turbo
1989 Suzuki GSXR 750
2003 Harley V-Rod
2000 Polaris RMK 700

Beside the garage I park my 1953 Kaiser Fraser Manhatten and my daily driver a 1999 Chev Z71 extended cab truck. I just sold my 1990 Honda Prelude or it would have been on the list too.

Needless to say not much room to work in the garage any more. Friends tell me to sell some of the cars. I tell them it's time to get an acreage. happy11.gif
Jeroen
Project 914 takes up all the garage space
Remains of 914 project #1 are (still) sitting in the jard
911 is in the drive way together with a Suzuki Jimny (wife's car)

I love German cars...

Currently I have a BMW 545i on order. Black over Auburn leather, sports package, comfort seats, and premium sound.

IPB Image

I came really close to getting a Mercedes E500 or an Audi A6 2.7T, but decided to wait.

Over the years, I have owned four 914s, a 2001 Porsche Boxster, a 1996 BMW 328is, a 1988 VW Scirocco 16V, a 1993 VW Passat VR6, and a 1999 VW Passat VR6.

And one 1995 Dodge Ram 1500! (Hey! Country was cool for a while in the mid-90's!)
ThinAir
Let's see... no garage, just a carport... but there are lots of German's around.

1973 2.0L FI 914-4 (currently out of commission while I repair the froze-up engine)
1970 1.7L FI 914-4 (borrowed from Mike - my current daily driver)
2000 VW Eurovan Camper (Mom's ride)
1975 2.0L FI VW Bus (youngest son's daily driver)
1990 Honda Accord (youngest son's fiance's driver)

In the back yard -
1972 914 roller that I disassembled to restore, but got stopped by not knowing how to weld.
1973 2.0L FI 914-4 (Mike's wrecked daily driver)
1971 914 shell for parts

In the side yard -
1977 VW camper bus for parts and to store 914 parts

Then there's Mike's 1965 Bug when he comes to Flagstaff to visit as well as our daughter's 1998 Jetta and our son-in-law's Jeep Cherokee.

How did those 2 non-Vw/Porsche cars get into there?!?
dgw
Our current collection. Had two more 914's for a long time but they went away a couple years ago.

74 914 2.0
83 SC Targa
93 RS America
04 Subaru Forester Turbo - daily driver

The Subaru is a blast. 12K miles in 6 months. 220 HP in a 3000 lb (+ or -) vehicle. Suprises the heck out of some folks.
