Wow, yous guys have had some sweet automobilia.

I've had 7 VWs, all water-cooled,
a BMW (325iX), smilie_flagge6.gif and a Miata unsure.gif

Right now I'm on my second 914, both '72s,
and I've also got a '00 Audi TTq.

The 914's and the Miater, are definitely my favorites wub.gif

I prefer fast cars and fast women,
but I'll settle for one that's ready to go if it's topless.

i still own the '83 ur-GTI, but since it was manufactured in Westmoreland, PA, i'm not sure it's really any more 'German' than our Subaru (manufactured in Indiana...) is Japanese...

as soon as Ross-Tech's BMW product gets into Beta Test i'll probably be driving some kinda E36 or E46. (i'm pushing for an X5, to tow the Porsches, but i think that unlikely ...)
bongo monkey
3 Jettas; Gens II, III, and IV.

Would it really have been that much work to include VW and Audi in the poll?

Got a guy in our bug club with a '52 Single Cab, but I think he wants about $22,000canadian (it's quite rare) for it.

A lot of the show cars up here are from the states, restored or have never been winter driven. The rest are rusty and crusty.
Rgreen914
Actually, my response may have been a bit misleading. We live in a condo with a two car garage which is actually occupied by a (totally stock) '98 MB E-320 and a ("hot-rodded) '99, 3/4 ton, 4X4 Chev Suburban w/454. A New Beetle sleeps outside and the teener resides at the mother-in-law's, in her car-port. My garage also contains three floor jacks, a "spare" 1.8 teener motor, enough 2.0 spares to assemble another motor, a multi-level rollaway tool chest, compressor, several hundred car magazines, many spare teener parts (including two hoods), exhaust system pieces and a work table which was originally a "dressing room" table from the old Pan Pacific Auditorium. And this is far from a complete inventory of the items to be found therein! We just finished looking at a three-car garage (...oh yeah, there was a house attached) which was only a foot longer than my 'Burb; that alone killed the deal!

I've only owned German cars with one exception. In order of acquisition:

1970 VW Squareback
1972 VW Squareback
1977 BMW 320i
1994 VW Jetta III
1994 Toyota truck
1974 Porsche 914 2L - silver
1974 Porsche 914 2L - white

The Toyota truck came from my sister and was a great deal. 4 years later it's still pretty much worth what I paid for it. The Jetta should be replaced in the next 5 years but it could probably last much much longer. More than anything I'm bored with it but it's hard to justify spending $10-30K on a newer car when it runs fantastic. I think I'd rather keep the Jetta as a daily driver and put my money into a 914-6 or 993 next.
mike_the_man
I started my German addiction with VW's. A 1979 Rabbit Gti was the first, then a few more Rabbits joined the fold. They really do multiply like rabbits. The 914 was next, and most recently was my 1994 Audi S4. I love the S car! Pretty quick, and comfortable. It like to go fast. The Audi has been my daily driver since I got it, but once I get the 914 running and the snow melts, I hope to make that my daily driver for the summer.

If it ain't German, it's CRAP!

Several BMW's in the past, currently an E36 323i. Wife has Volvo wagon to cart the beagles to the park, and a 78 Volvo (the pumpkin) which the youngest daughter drives.
