PO painted Rivieras to match pinstriping. What is the best way to remove without damaging finish?

Good question. I don't think there is going to be an easy way without comprising the remaining finish. You could tape them off and paint the painted areas black.
I kinda like the look (on the wheels that is). |

i used Easy-Off oven cleaner to remove some paint from some VW 5-spoke alloys. can't vouch for not harming the finish though.

I would think a liquid/paste type paint remover should work. You might want to mask off the wheel to be safe and use a small brush to neatly apply the remover. I don't believe this would hurt the OEM finish which should be anodized.

If your changing the white areas to black, go with Gint's suggestion. Why risk staining the metalic finish.

Here's with the black centers. White looks good.

Try brake cleaner first. If it's cheap paint (rattle can), it'll come right off.
