I'll go back and check out that junker that I saw for sale yesterday (see the "FS" forum for description). I forgot to get the VIN for the collection.

Andy, here's the VIN tag from the one in my recent post. I can't quite make out a couple of the numbers with 100% certainty.

Black, 1975. Oceanside, CA, on a used car lot currently. I think a 1.8.

Ha, that ad in the link you provided is something! I wonder what he was asking for it on Ebay at that time?

Well, to keep the threads tied together, here is a link to my 914World post regarding the car.

These 6 are at Cooks Auto Spa in Loveland, CO. The first one on the list is the only one running and driving. All of the others are parts cars.

Two ready for the crusher, no pics.

4762902902
4722907141

Located on the grounds of what appeared to be a closed auto repair shop, corner of Center Street and Pinellas, Tarpon Springs, FL.

Engine and trannny were missing from the 76, it had been T-boned on the passenger side, severe rust, top has been off for a long time, probably nothing worth saving.

Couldn't get a good look at the 72, but also in poor shape.

Both have been sitting outside for a long time.

I remember a salvage yard just across the freeway from skyharbor, west of the airport in Phoenix that had several 914's. I pulled some parts for my 72 back in the mid nineties. I am not sure if they are still there or not. The salvage yard dealt in just Porsche. I live in Colorado now so I can't run down to check.

Might as well add this Andy as it is my parts car with a salvaged title last licensed 04/30/2010, lots of rust and pretty well striped down, never to see the road unless towed!

Saw a few in the junkyard. Don't think anyone will save these. I'll be picking a few parts though.

Some of these may be duplicates

I haven't tried this, but if I enter a VIN that is already in the database, does it warn me, or flag it as a duplicate?

Nope, there can be multiple entries per VIN, that way, we can keep a VIN history of sorts.

And multiple entries only count once against the overall VIN count ...

Hi Andy,
I stopped at a local Porsche Repair shop in the metro area (Novi, MI) and took a few cell phone pics of a 1974 914-6 conversion with a 3.6 engine under development. The shop didn't want to give out the owners name, just allowed me to take a few cell phone pics. Interesting stuff, I'll keep checking on the progress.
Tom
