Dave (GPR) offered t-shirts for each entry. The whole t-shirt idea hasn't been mentioned to any of the sponsors.
Here is his original e-mail: QUOTE I would love to help out. I can give away a t-shirt for every person enrolled and give some door prizes etc.. Tell me where to send the stuff! Dave/GPR So basically, he'd benefit twice. People will get a GPR t-shirt and an event t-shirt with a GPR logo (and the logo's of other sponsors) cheers, Jeroen |

OK. So Dave's offer was for GPR shirts for each entry, and that in no way affects or creates any conflicts with a WCC specific shirt (sponsored or otherwise). Just wanted to make sure.

1 free GPR t-shirt. (Thanks Dave)
1 t-shirt of our design, with sponosor logos and paid for by their donations. 1 classy embroidered polo shirt. Either for sale of subusidized by us. To much? |

The only question is the embroiderd shirt. That one is a risk because it is hard to predict how many people will purchase it after having already gotten 2 other complimentary shirts.
If we are going to do it, I think that it probably needs to be at least partially sponsored as well. Without being partially sponsored, we would need to sell the shirts for at least $15 and sell almost all of them to basically break even. If we sell them for $20, then you have to sell about 3/4 of the shirts to break even, but because of the higher price, fewer people will buy them. Because of the 2 other free shirts, I think the risk is too high that we will lose money with this route. If we get the shirts at least partially sponsored (say 1/2 of shirt cost is paid by a sponsor), we can either sell the shirts cheap ($7-$8) ensuring that many people will buy them because they are cheap (expecting a near sellout). Or sell them at a higher cost ($15-$17)), but because the profit margin is higher, our break even point is fewer than 1/2 of the shirts, but with the up side of turning a profit if enough sell. All profits of course go toward funding of future WCC events. Demick |

Near the bottom of page 1 of this thread Jeff mentioned the option of using money he had budgeted for the Shields could be directed towards the Polo shirts. Much has happened since that post but I guess that option still remains. If we do go ahead with the embroidered shirts, I think we should take on as little risk as possible. If we are going to charge extra for them, they should be done on a pre-paid or reservation basis only. Our minimun order only has to be 6 shirts. It would be nice to be able to at least offer them to the people who are really interested. $12 each would be the actual production cost. Anything about that would be profit.

I think we can sell 5-8 polo shirts after the fact on the BBS. I think $15-20 is fair.

There is no event funding for the shirts in the Reg fees whether they be Ts or Polos, so either a sponsor covers the whole cost, or they go on sale to participants at the event.
If GPR will cover the entire cost Great! They would then have sole representation on the shirts. Nearly everyone signed up so far wants a shirt, several want more than one. I have not added the quantities up but I bet the total is currently something like 75-80 shirts requested to date. |

This is all spinning kinda fast. I want to be sure we are all on the same page.
Does GPR have existing shirts that they are going to donate or are they talking about us creating a WCC t-shirt that they would sponsor? |

The quote from Dave at the top of this page indicates that he has GPR shirts. But it is not entirely clear. Since Jeroen has been in contact with him, it would probably be best for him to clarify with Dave what exactly he is offering.

Yes, Dave is offering his own shirts.
I never mentioned anything about a shirt to him, this was his idea of contributing/sponsoring cheers, Jeroen |

I don't think it's too much. You'll see folks wearing event-type shirts all days if we do it this way. That is what we like! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So do we want to do a 2nd (and 3rd) shirt?
Do we have other sponsors who would be willing to pay for a spot on a t-shirt? Do we want to offer polos for sale? |

Jeff, please correct me if I'm thinking in the wrong direction!!! In a previouse post you mentioned that you had $10 per registration for a rallye shield 50 reg. x $10 = $500 that we can now use for other purposes (after all, the rallye shields are sponsored/payed for) We could use these $500 to pay for the shirts instead. We would still need an aditional $300 to cover the shirts, but I'm 100% sure we will get more than that from the sponsors that were "left out" of the rallye shield deal You are the only one who has a good overall insight on the $$$ Please let me know if the assumtions above are correct I won't take any action before you confirm this... cheers, Jeroen |
