Yes...that was one of the big selling points. Have you ever seen what Tahoe looks like during a summer weekend BEFORE school gets out? We'd be lucky to get 2 miles in during our 4 hour drive!

snip.... I think Tahoe is such a great venue...plenty of other stuff for the family to do, not just 24/7 914's...for the weirdo's who dont like that kind of thing:)

Umm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I think the local is a great Idea and I really want to attend but,
did anyone consider that the 9/17, 18, 19th is AFTER school starts in the fall?

Yes Rich it was considered. In fact it should clear up some of the normal congestion that Tahoe gets before school is in session. We haven't decided what to do with Nicho yet. We will probably just have him stay with a classmate for the weekend. Many of us have empty nests and others have not started a family yet. Nicho is such a good student that we may even pull him out Thursday Friday and let him come... The school discourages it but he is so far ahead of the curve he could use the handicap. Really smart like McMark but better looking! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

Well we have a little time here, but I plan to rip my car down over the winter and fix some issues I have been wanting to get to. Like rust. Yep, I have a couple of spots to repair.

Also I plan on adding my Alien bars for Roll Control. I madde some 4130 hollow anti-sway bars a couple years back but have not had time to install them.

Oh and I plan on rebuilding my engine mount bar and enlarging my custom made oil pan.

Then, I am going to see if there are any other brave souls from MN or points east that want to hook up and caravan.

Seeing as I am from Minnesota the Minnesota guys will get a beer on me the first night. Then we can stand around in the parking lot until 2am telling Oly and Lena jokes for those guys who think the Nordic people have no humor!

A couple rust spots!!! How did the MnDOT miss you're car??? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Ya yoU betcHA For suRE..

It spent most of it's life in San Mateo. But I now have the dreaded sail panel rust peaking through and a small blister at the lower corner of my front fender.

Not a big issue for me, but time to repair is. So, we drive it instead of standing back and throwing sugar at it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Ahhh... San Mateo is close enough to the ocean that it gets salt sea air instead of salted roads... Still good though.

Lot's of our WCR 2010 plans will come together next week when we visit the Cool September Nights event and see what our sister event is like... Watch here next week for pics of what the "other side of the parking lot" is going to look like!

The time left to get your 914 ready for WCR 2010 is about to click under a year. This coming weekend will be roughly one year from the big event! I know I have work to do. How about you?

Well, it's been hours since Rob posted a pic, so I thought I'd share a couple pics I took around Tahoe this year.

See what I mean? You literally can just point the camera in almost any direction and shoot. The beauty is prolific, ubiquitous if we use McMark's word of the day... Be sure to make your plans to come to the WCR 2010 at Lake Tahoe...

About one year from now, we will be meeting to kick off WCR 2010 at Lake Tahoe. Some tips for a stress free event from the participant side: Be sure to request the time off when you preschedule vacation if that is your company policy. Be sure to save enough of your vacation time so that your request doesn't get turned down. Be sure to have all the projects wrapped up and allow for testing time especially if you are driving to the event! Be sure to bring beer money because it is your turn to buy! So what did the WCR 2010 team do yesterday? We were on a double-secret recon mission (ok, we announced it every day for a month so it wasn't that secret). We went up to Tahoe in a caravan of three cars, all six cylinders for you six vs. four asshats. Paul in his black 3.6, me in my Carrera 3.2, and Justin in his 3.0. We intended to check the parking lot and attend the Cool September Days Event that we will partner with next year. The economy has been hard on the event this year and Tom the organizer said he was down about 100 cars. We saw at least 100 so it was still substantial. The lot is not perfect for the autocross but few are and it will do nicely.

What follows is a picture-fest of what I thought was cool and interesting. I was a heavily influenced by my father in my teens who was a street rod guy but somehow veered to the sports car side when I discovered autocrossing.

These first three pictures include a Ghia that was for sale for $8K, Paul's 3.6, and my Carrera (sorry Justin, you just barely appear beyond my camera hog Carrera), and some of my favorite street rods, a 50's Chevrolet pickup.
