West Coast Ramble 2010 at Lake Tahoe is coming together and we wanted to share the tentative dates and some of our ideas we have had... September 17, 18, and 19 at the Horizon Casino Resort on the South Side of the lake. There will be two other major car events going on at the same time in the same hotel. PCA Sacramento Valley Region and Sierra Nevada Region will hold a multi day event and we will be invited to attend their autocross in the Horizon Parking Lot probably both Saturday and Sunday for you hardcore cone murderers. Cool September Days, a kind of lower key event like Hot August Nights will be at the hotel as well. We are invited to see their mainly street rods and American Classics and enjoy some of the parking lot events they will have going on. Like a band... There is a golf course right across the street called the Edgewater at Tahoe which may be an alternative activity for you golfers. I am talking with Trackmasters to see if they are interested in doing a track day event at Reno-Fernley on that weekend... There are so many other things to do at Tahoe you should make sure you are one of the 914World Citizens at this event... Who's in? Sound off bitches!!! We had a bug or two at the event... This drop top shows up at events all over NorCal and it was good to see it here as well... And again, my favorites are the 50's pickups. Check out the flames!

In addition to our two 914's and a Carrera, there were two other Porsche cars at the event. I saw a 928S in the parking lot and there was a '76 912 entered with RAT credits in the description.

What would the world outside of 914World be like without Thunderbirds?
There were tasty 50's Chevrolets everywhere you looked! Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

One of my favorite 50's Chevrolets is the '58 and this one was very nice. Too bad this was the best pic I could get as it was tucked into the shadows a bit.
Those Buick grills have so much character. My son said right away "it looks like a face!" One token GTO at the event... No sheep though! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Need something delivered so fast it shows up with purple flames?
The 50's Ford trucks were not quite as plentiful but this one was very nice... This red Chevrolet was my favorite but if I were to get and restore a Chevrolet pickup it would probably be a 70's C10 as they are more common and easier to buy ($)! Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Here is an interesting 914 connection. This tasty 57 Chevrolet with swivel seats belongs to JCD914 - Jim Dupree's in-laws from Antioch CA...

This first picture is of Jim's brother-in-law after we reminded him he was $1800.00 up at the casino so far this weekend! And if you let your eyes wander a bit to the left in that shot, you can take in some of the other umm... scenic things we saw at Cool September Days.
Another Chevrolet and then in this last shot, Jim is measuring in his head for that 427 in one of his 914's! Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Another bird and Camaro and my choice of truck if I were to drive one home. Paul mentioned that he had restored one of these as well and if I know Paul, I would bet it was even nicer than this one!

There weren't as many hotrods as I expected... This one was nice though. I took this last shot of the crowd so you could see the mountains that surround the event. The scenic nature of Tahoe cannot be understated. It is so beautiful... This will be the backround of every picture you take when you come up to WCR 2010 at Lake Tahoe!

I couldn't resist another shot of my favorite truck. I would use 70's rally wheels with trim rings though... No modern crap wheels for me. This Challenger was misnamed. It was definately a winner! If I know my friend McMark, this rat-rod would have been his favorite and he would drive it to work daily at Original Customs!

More trucks! My son Nicho thought that Chevrolet had the coolest paintjob. The Ford had a nicely executed BMW style hood modification. That last truck, with the scooter and the gas powered bike in the back was up for raffle. I bought two tickets. Do you think I can teach that truck to haul a 914 on a trailer? 79 Camaro driveline and suspension...

Check out the flames! The red Chev had flames so real you wanted to stay back to keep from getting burned. They actually had dimension to them. The big Ford Truck was a 30's model. I wonder if it was ever hijacked by Capone?

This last shot had the most incredible period - correct display. On the passenger window was one of those swamp cooler AC units and it had a drive - in tray with burgers and a couple Cokes!
So there you have it. That is what the other side of the parking lot will look like at next years WCR 2010 at Lake Tahoe. They will include us in their event and invite people to watch our autocross and check out our cars... Best of all, security will be cruising around on golf carts to protect our cars... This should be a great event so take the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) advice and save the dates and some vacation time! See you at WCR 2010! Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

Does anybody know where the 2010 WCR is going to be held? I heard something about La Jolla Amago, CA? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)
What we need is a daily..., no an hourly post to keep us updated on the 2010 WCR planning... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Eric |

I love Lake Tahoe and am excited about having my teener there, but the more I think about this show the more I wonder. Scheduling right on top of RRCs dates is certainly a bad thing, but seeing the show that we'd be lost in does not make WCR10 look all that appealing at the moment.

If you can't then move along. It is a decision that was made by a group and as I said, it has been made. Not going to be changing. |

Don't worry about the street rod guys overwhelming our event. They took up maybe 1/10th of the lot! See you at WCR 2010 in Tahoe. We hope to have 100 cars and more people so really, don't worry about the other events... Attached image(s) ![]() |
