Don't worry about the street rod guys overwhelming our event. They took up maybe 1/10th of the lot! See you at WCR 2010 in Tahoe. We hope to have 100 cars and more people so really, don't worry about the other events...

That's the attitude that will make me want to be there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

I am done here, no worries. I honestly just wanted to voice the opinions of quite a few people that talked to me during RRC09 about the date stomping. I have voiced my opinion and RRC will still go on, as it is also an annual event. Thank you for your support.

No Brant, no Admin stuff. Each of these events has been organized by non-members over the years without the interference/intervention of the Admins of the non-clubs.

It comes down to those that choose WCC10 will go there and those that choose RRC010 will go there.

Personally, I like red rocks even if they are black at night. I even like swimming in them (direct reference to Torrey).

Sorry I missed Fruita this year .... hopefully next year things will be better. How 'bout Bryce? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hanged.gif)

Are you still hung up on Bryce? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Wasn't that part of last year's drive?

FWIW, not a fan of the date conflict either. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Red Rocks is traditionally a fall event for a reason.........
But Ron is wise beyond his years (if that's possible). In the end, people will choose which event to attend,
even though they may choose poorly.....(IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

Wow... I am not certain how the apology became a slap in the face nor do I see any possible chance of this splitting the 914World into more than one site. That is beyond just a little dramatic. Further, if you want to persue this you have no chance of resolution in your favor unless you take it off this thread. It is not appropriate.

I did not make the decision to pick this date on my own. It was a group decision. As such, I cannot change the groups decision. That can only be done by the group. Frankly, this approach seems unlikely to sway the group. That decision was made without knowledge that RRC "owns" those dates. It didn't come up. It wasn't considered. It certainly was NOT intentional.

Only one person spoke up almost two months ago when we announced these dates. Nothing more was said by anyone after I posted #49 which you seem to think is a slap in the face?? Please! Your toes are sore from being stepped on??? Really? How? Did you repeatedly ask nicely if we would consider moving the dates of our event? Because this is the first objection I am hearing and you're asking admins to get involved???

Did you ever consider going to negotiation before you pulled out the guns? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

Considering the tone, it would have been more appropriate for you to PM your opinion rather than bring it up on the thread promoting the event. As for my "attitude" let me clarify for you that when I say don't worry about the other events I am refering to the street rod events running concurrently with ours, not RRC.

I am disinclined to vote to move WCR 2010 because of this approach. No one intentionally attacked RRC. You guys have stood around a parking lot getting drunk and gotten fired up. Now, 2 months after the announced dates you have a problem. Your faces have been slapped and your toes stepped on. Hardly!

You should have tried the PM feature. It certainly might have changed my mind before. Now???

My people skills??? I said in that post that we all tend to make decisions and plan in a vacuum. That vacuum being our own culture. None of us considered RRC when we made that decision. None of us have ever been to RRC and considering the way you have handled this, I find it unlikely any of us ever will. I refered to RRC as a fine event that I regret having not made it to and hoped to go to some day. How does someone with your advanced people skills get "move on" and FUCK OFF out of that? Then you start a second thread using the word "conflict" in the title! There was no conflict. No one beyond that first person on the second post in the thread even brought it up. This drama is unnecessary. You should have tried to resolve it before you declared war. That would have shown some people skills. I am probably an even easier guy and I am not having a tough day. Maybe that is what makes it easy for me to see who has the people skills here.

Again, if you wanted some resolution, a PM would have been the way to handle it.

I for one learned about the date conflict while I was drunk in the parking lot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I'm not in the habit of watching threads for things that will happen more than a year out.

Poor planning on the group decision, it was my understanding that the "classic's" were designed to fall at certain times of the year, in different parts of the county, so that a maximum # of 914 owners could attend.

I think this was the sentence that I took your tone from:

" We have moved on from that. If you can't then move along. It is a decision that was made by a group and as I said, it has been made. Not going to be changing."

like I said:
carry on
or in your own words
"move along"

That quote was not in the post you replied to. In fact nothing in the post you actually replied to should have been considered a slap in the face. The reason the statement above was made is because the dates were announced on July 25th in this thread. Only one person brought forth any kind of objection and they did not continue to prosecute the objection after I posted the response you actually quoted. Not one word until yesterday a full two months after the dates were announced. No PM's from the RRC planners, nothing at all until this attack on our event and everything we have planned.

Your objection is neither timely or presented in an appropriate manner. If you actually want to resolve this, take it off the forum and PM one of us. But if any of you continue to attack me personally, you will not have my vote to change anything. Where was your objection two months ago before we had done all of this work and set up collaborative relationships with three other organizations?
Banned all replies? That is a reasonable person's solution to all things he doesn't agree with? That is a great people skill!

I love Lake Tahoe and am excited about having my teener there, but the more I think about this show the more I wonder. Scheduling right on top of RRCs dates is certainly a bad thing, but seeing the show that we'd be lost in does not make WCR10 look all that appealing at the moment.

Should this situation been addressed in a different way rather than simply hoping no one from the other event would object?

This is a pretty tight group of folks. I would think that the approach of "asking for forgiveness vs asking for permission" isn't really the way this place operates - at least I hope not. I remember very clearly when the first RRC was being discussed and the open board discussion on the best dates as to not interfere or detract from other events. I can understand Brants frustration - he respected the other events when creating the RRC and got an "oops - oh well" in return.

Scott,
This is getting a bit frustrating. Once again, no one decided conciously to have WCR 2010 on the same dates as RRC 2010. It was never considered. None of us on the comittee have ever been to RRC and it wasn't even a cloud in our sky. NO ONE said lets just plan this for the same weekend as RRC and hope they don't get pissed. Can we get that accross to just one of you?

We had a meeting and decided on dates, announced those dates and one person objected. I apologized and that person never gave another objection public or private. Check it yourself, it was the second post in the thread. It isn't my place to just hear a complaint and undo everything the comittee has decided. I brought it to the comittee, it was one person who never said another thing. We went ahead with our planning.

Since that time almost 2 months ago, I have been in two meetings with PCA and attended an event. I have spent lots of time promoting and contacting vendors about give-aways. These people wanted to know what our plans were. They were given dates and location. They are operating on that assumption that those dates are firm.

The time and effort invested in this work above is just mine. That says nothing of other members of the group that are planning this. I don't know what work of theirs you destroy by just coming up with this now.

Finally, after two months - a shit-storm of objection. Personal insults. My complaint is this: Where were these complaints two months ago? Why attack me personally and publically rather than PM me or one of the other planning comittee members to try and work it out. So you see at this point, I really don't care about anyone's complaint. I consider it a slap in my face that you RRC people waited until all of this work was done to step up to the microphone.
