I am sure the thread went mostly unnoticed until you started posting pictures hourly. I know I didn't pay much attention. But you should have paid attention to the fact that the one objection (actually there were two) came from one of the RRC planners. That should have been enough for you to take notice of your choice of dates. Your response was basically, not responding. You ignored the objection completely. Being a former planner of the RRC, we always took notice of the dates of EVERY event we knew existed. It was just part of the planning, plain and simple. Common courtesy comes to mind......

The RRC is a FALL event. It always has been and always will be.
It is also a people event. It always has been and always will be.
We do not need to coattail another car show to be successful.
You seem to have a problem with drinking in parking lots, but that is at the core of the RRC. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

That is the problem right there. It is not us vs them....how many times do I have to say that?

I want to go to WCR, I like the big event. I however, will not sacrifice a Red Rocks to go to WCR.

someone needs to be flexible

is everything already in motion for RRC 2010, or is it just the date...

Rob has appeared to done alot of work (as with the WCR committee) to get ahead of the planning.. who has more room to budge..

i want to go to both, but someone needs to make a comprimise and realize it's not just about a date.

RRC is about the date. It snows in this part of the country and it is hot in the summer in the regions where the event is held. 914's do not do partcularly well in heat or snow. That is why RRC is a fall event.

I imagine that RRC will have to change dates. If "the commitee" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) already has financials planned for the September date, that is what will have to be done. Discussions have been in progress already for an alternate RRC date. The problem is totally to do with the weather like Gregor said!

But! I am not the planner for RRC2010. Whoever the planner for 2010 is will need to decide if a move will happen or not.

Ben,
I think your right
rob just needs to apologize
infact it seems that once the mistake was initially recognized (2months ago was it)
that the apology should of come at that time

I imagine that the RRC planners can be the ones inconvienienced to pick another date during another part of the cool seasons
(we do after all go to the desert where teeners tend to not like june/july/august)
and we do need to accomodate the other events in the spring and not disrespect their planning.

I think for me the lack of common courtesy is what stood out.
Imagine being involved for 4 years (me personally) and 5 years overall and then have someone overlook that investment and disregard its value. Let alone someone who should be a part of the brotherhood and treat fellow members with respect.

The hours are not yet invested into RRC 2010
but the culture and value of the people that attend already exists.
it's that degregation of a person's value that hurts my toes!

a big public apology might go a long ways...

Well, definately as a west coast guy, I do apologize. I don't think Rob, nor anyone else saw that there was a significant issue. I havn't been here long enough to even know that RCC is a sept event.. I just see the thread, the date, figure if i can go, and that's it. He's probably gotten enough planned through it's sorta like, I can't start over now.

I do hope a mutual conclusion is met though. I would like to attend both if i can afford to do so, even if i end up driving the rsx to RCC next year. I also hope to see some of you guys out at Tahoe... it was fun seeing people like Ferg, Ernie, etc at WCR 09.

and I've driven the 914 in snow and 110+ degree heat (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif)... though fall could still work... maybe not the normal weekend... how about oct 16th (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (its my birthday ahaha... not necessarily a suggestion)

happy almost your birthday
we had snow in the high country today in colorado
one year on 9/21 it snowed heavily on the caravan going to RRC
I'm afraid the date will have to be earlier rather than later to avoid those snows again

def one group will have to compromise... it sucks, but shit happens... just gotta make decisions and work from there to help accommodate the attendee's...... goes for both sides... whoever can be flexible will have to... it would suck to have to choose just because it is fun too see more people there

<Seriousness on> (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)

"Drinking in parking lots" has been the tradition of the R66, RRC and the SoCal WCC. We are outcasts .... always have been and I, speaking for myself, enjoy that status.

I must admit that falling on asphalt, sleeping on broken concrete, dropping trow and missing or having a "That Guy or Girl" Award is delicious in itself. The wafting aroma from Neverland has never made my eyes tear ... turn red maybe. Frozen boobie and butt prints in the ice; the sound of well aged Cassadores being shaken; Love messages and bare boobs on Waide's head, piles of food at the Route 66 diner; funky hotels (with parking lots) and concrete filled swimming pools .... I DEFY ANY ORGANIZERS TO TOP THAT!

If RRC falls on the dates chosen for the WCC10, then let it be so ... I know where the fun is and the people that make it so.

Howie is laughing at this from Teener Heaven ... and prolly at us for actually being serious about it. He, above all, knows what fun can be had in parking lots.

All hail R66 & RRC ... the Premire Events of the Millenium (on whatever date they occur).

I'm voting for Beaver and Bryce. It just has a nice ring to it!

I have to say both events looked great but this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) is turning me and my son off,

You guys on both sides should pick up the phone and work it out, I will pay for the calls.
