I purchaced a 1972 porsche 914/4 a few weeks back and am having a bit of trouble getting the numbers broke down. the VIN is 4722919064. it was manufactured on 06/72. the karman plate in the drivers door reads NR. 2439512. L9H. the engine was out of the car and it has a number stamped onto the block AW009121. there was a set of webers with it and I found the following on them 40 IDF 19. ? the car seems very original with very minamal rust. it cam from michigan. the color is a gold color under the red paint. I bought a 1970 914/4 a few months before I ran into this one and being the other (1970) is body is completely rusted I am going to use it for parts. I have purchaced a number of books on the 914 and some kind of point me in a direction but not very through. I am under the impresion that this is a 1800 VW bus engine. and maybe a off color. I am prepairing to rebuild the engine and I want to be able to get the correct parts. will these webers work? any help would be very greatly appeciated. this is my first porsche/VW 914. I have a 1972 El camino restored by myself so I do know cars. but these little guys are a mystery right now. thanks for reading. before I leave one more thing that I thought was interesting is the front of this 914 has no grills for the driving lights and is rounded unlike the flat fronts of all the 914's I have seen below the rubber bumper its plain and rounded (2 piece).
