Andy's in the house!!! Make your plans people. This is a chance to learn. I call them opportunities. If your transmission does not need a rebuild, buy one that does and learn. After this, Mike stops working on transmissions and starts suturing up suicide attempts... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

My tranny is good at the moment, so I'd like to be an observer if I can make the date. If I can source a well-priced sideshift and gearswap, I'd like to participate. ('ll start looking for one now)

Should be fun and educational opening up your 901 and freshening her innards... Wouldn't you love to shift better? I am paraphasing a recent Grassroots Motorsports article when I say you have a better chance of finding second gear stirring your Cheerios in the morning than while driving a 914... An overstatement to be sure but you can improve on that and learn. Price of admission $300.00 to participate, free to observe.

Lucky you--I sure wish Dr. Evil would plan a Minnesota transmission build clinic. I would love to swap my LSD from my short gear into the my stock geared transmission.

Chappy, hop on a plane to Santa Rosa airport and then I'll pick you up.

Does a 901 count as a carry on?

Probably not but you could put it on a Greyhound bus and have it meet you there... We would love to have you come...

It's the main drag running right through town. Lake on one side, businesses on the other. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Seriously, Lake Elmo has basically become a suburb of St. Paul. Used to be the closest thing to a city was Stillwater and the State Prison was the largest business with Andersen Windows bringing up a close second.

I've got a sideshift 901 out of my '73 teener that I can contribute to the cause for a fair price. It includes the shifter, all linkage and the engine mount. I don't know the exact history of the box, but I got the car from my next door neighbor and he says it shifted great when he parked it 15 years ago. Either way, you could go through it at the clinic, or buy it for parts.

I live in Davis, which is on the way to Sonoma from the Central Valley. PM me with an offer if you're interested.

Get your wrench on! 901 instruction by the evil Dr. Evil... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Be there and take the word grind out of your transmission discussions and put it back in the coffee chats (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
