I thought this was going to be a rant, but reconsidered. I like to look at others projects - time to return the favor. Anyhow, I'm putting together a 3.2 with 915 wevo. As a diy'er, I don't have fab capability, so I bought a shift linkage from a well known vendor. I think the product needs improvement. The kit includes front and rear bars, 2 u-joints, and a firewall bearing.

Above is a u-joint from the kit. It is like the joints used in the steering linkage. It is drilled and tapped for a cone screw on one end. Problem is, the screw only engages 1.5 threads before bottoming in the wevo input shaft.

Below is a wevo joint I bought to replace it. Using a wevo joint, you'll get 4.5 threads engagement.

The next problem I encountered was that unlike the steering shafts that have a groove for the pinch bolt, a flat is made in the bar stub. Also, the u-joint is splined, but the stubs are not. Friction holds the thing together, except that on one of the joints the pinch bolt was not strong enough to apply sufficient friction. Here is an example bar stub:

I replaced both u-joints from the kit with wevo joints. Wevo jonts are shorter, so the bar needs to be lengthened. Wevo gave me a spare stub. The bar is 22mm and the stubs are 15mm, so a little jig was made to center the stub. Care must be taken to clock the shift bars relative to the shifter and wevo input. Brought it to a local welder and got this:

Now with the connection at the transaxle done, move to the front. Here, I needed to make conical holes for the set screws. Went on amazon and got a tapered end mill:

Since you won't name the vendor, and I make a shift linkage, I want to make sure people know that those are NOT my parts.

I'm glad you said something, I was wondering if they were yours, but they didnt look like your quality.

Where did you get that shift boot? The stock one won't completely cover my RennShifter, and yours looks like it would.

That is a factory 915 ('73 to '86 911) shift boot and it does work on the RennShift.

I have the same shift linkage kit. Any reason we are not using there name?

Only issue I seem to be having is the cone screw at the front goes into a hole not designed for a cone screw. Part where the shifter connects to the rod. It seems to move after engaging 5th or reverse and then I cannot get it into 1st 2nd.

I just haven't had time to play with it but I think I need to ditch the cone screw for a regular bolt.

The wevo joints used here are their modular joints.

I don't want to bash someones product w/o giving them an opportunity to reply. To me this is just a hobby. To them it is food on the table. It's pretty clear at this point anyway.

Mr West is right, this is not his kit and the shifter is a stock 911 and boot. I did not know you made a linkage

Herr Doctor, the patient has been in an induced coma for 3 yrs. It is a fresh, tight box. All I know at this point is that 2 gears can be found on the left - hopefully 1st - 2nd.

Turboman, I think the part you say is wrong, is actually right. Well, it was right for me, but it looks like you're using a different shifter than me. Maybe that's it.
