I was doing a rear trunk yesterday and today, and knowing how everyone likes to see every sqaure inch of a naked teener unsure.gif I shot some pics of a trunk cut apart. I forgot to take pics of the old trunk cut out before welding in the new, but I figured the " plugs " were the more interesting prts anyway confused24.gif Also note the replacemetn panels do not have the holes cut out. If you don;t care about the originality, I personally would leave them be, one less place tro trap water blink.gif I went ahead and put these in because I wanted to find out exactly how much more time it would take to do them. Now I need one of the expensive seam seal guns to get the finish just right My cheapo 150.00 gun wouldn't get it quite perfect dry.gif Coat of selaer tomorrow and I move on to the next hole....hell hole.........

BTW does anyone know how the factory originally applied the seam sealer ? It looks like it was sprayed, but I find it hard to beleive a " standard " gun could lay it out so damn thick. confused24.gif

In that 356 video, I seem to remember them dipping long brushes into a vat of the stuff and then spreading/brushing it on. I've certainly taken some off that look smeared on with a finger...

I was able to match the factory finish with a Wurth gun but I wasted a lot, a lot of $35.00 a tube Wurth seam sealer just spraying it on cardboard to practice. We billed the extra seam sealer to the job, insurance paid, with a fight. I always liked fighting with them anyway.

See, I think pete-stevers was joking about coming all the way down to visit, but I really could drive the hour or so up to richmond. Where in richmond are you located?

BTW, I have some work to do that I am hesitant to try myself. Might need your services.
Katmanken
Here ya go....

Seam sealing the German factory way.....

It's about 8 minutes into the video...

Only if the RV is full of money rolleyes.gif I'd love to do your car, but unfortunately the credit card companies and the landlord won't take an RV as payment..... the batards dry.gif

Maybe a possible trade for the labor part. I can provide all the paint and such. Then when I win all the prettiest car awards I can proudly say the Bee was brought back to it's original beauty by SCOTTY!

p.s. Of course I understand it wouldn't receive top priority, cash paying jobs pay the bills. I have two other ones so I would be extremely patient.
Dr Evil
He is pretty fat with "show car" candidates, but not cash at the moment. If you were 1 year sooner maybe wink.gif I tried to see if he could use the RV, but it just aint a gonna happen.
