I'm trying to remove the door panel (need to fix a door handle that refuses to open the door), but the PO had speakers cut into the door panel, and I'm not sure how to deal with the speaker. It's definitely not explained in the tutorial I'm following:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/9...ight_mirror.htm

I'm at the point in Figure 6 where I'm trying to remove the lower part. Anyone know?

The factory never installed speakers in the doors of 914's. Try to pry off the grill and remove the mounting screws.

Success! It was just the front grill plate that needed to be pulled off, and like you said, screws underneath. Thanks!

Dan - glad you got it.

Go contact "morph" on here at Appearance & Performance (in Portland or thereabouts IIRC) in the vendors section, & he can set you up with some repro door panels without the speakers. Then you can get upgraded 6x9or whatever size fits in the stockspeaker box.

Woody's classic radios on eBay & their own website (Costa Mesa CA) sells a "loose box" speaker for 911/912 that some have used to put behind the seats (with the seat up a notch or 2) & run wires under the carpet if you must have 4 way speakers!

IMHO - you can't hear much audio in a 914 anyway, & who wants to drown out that great 2.0 sound anyway, so I'll be staying stock! biggrin.gif
