Try this poll crap again dry.gif

Sometime in 2012, so you have plenty of time to get yer car done and make plans. Indy has been tossed out already and Rich has make a request for info on renting that track. Other location ideas are welcome but please keep in mind, this is an event planned to be in a central location to get east and west, north and south to attend. Hell you Canardians are even welcome. Hell yeah, I'm there. No way I'd miss it and Indy sounds like a good place to try out my flared car, if it is done by then.

I heard that in 2012 we wont have to pay for oil anymore it will be free , all you can scoop up all day long in your own backyard.
Tom_T
Heck, I'm in Indy area anyway most years mid-to-late August!

Just can't do it Labor Day or 4th Sat in August - other standing commitments then.

I really hope to have my rust-bucket-case back together by then, preferably sooner! smile.gif

Kansas Speedway Nascar. If Pca can rent Texas Motor Speedway for local Dfw events it couldn't be that expensive. More centrally located.

Get an artist to create a new mushroom cloud and copyright the shirt art now.

Get someone big like Goodyear as a sponsor. Let's do it! beerchug.gif beerchug.gif beerchug.gif

Kansas City area would be better for the westerners than Indy. Not that indy isn't cool, but thats over 2000 miles away. Perhaps something a little more central.
keske968
Mid America Motorplex is a great track about 20 minutes South of Omaha. 2.25 road course with LOTS of run off and 15 turns. Really a great track. I'll even offer some living room space for someone to sleep on.

Damn, I have not made beer since last fall... funny how yard work, caring for a geriatric dog, and acquiring a motorcycle seem to have occupied all my spare time. Maybe with 2 years warning I can get something done. beerchug.gif

Something else to consider is not just a track to run on but what else is available in any of these areas to do. The WCR drives were spectacular and I know from my experiences the center of the country tends to be a little ....bland........Any members in the suggested locations would need to speak up as to any mountain roads, natural occurences ( water falls, craters, freeaks of land or nature ) or otherwise nice fun trips we could do. Any parks, natural or amusement, etc would also help to nail down a location. Show recommends Co., which I would love to do, or Wyoming, but that puts the event really far west for us all the way east. Not that with enough planning I wouldn't, but that may seriously cut down on the numbers of those that would.

I'll toss out South Dakota ( Rushmore, Sioux falls, Badlands etc.) or northern Nebraska as suggestions confused24.gif

Cross post from the other thread. I cut and pasted this from the other thread.

Lotus_65 Paul brought this up a couple months back. I'm sure he would be on board for this.

I would help get it rolling. Isn't it like some 40th anniversary of something?

Rich, Find out what insurance is required for a group. Maybe the track will hold an event and individual insurance will surfice.

Rich or Paul, put your heads together. I think Paul did some of this leg work already. I remember something about Paul contacting the track already.

Oklahoma to Nebraska. Locals, start touting why teeners need to be in the destruction in your home town!

Oklahoma has twisties, Kansas has Dorthy, and Nebraska Nukes. What else? popcorn[1].gif

If we pick Indy, some of the west coast people will be dead before getting to the event. It's a little too far east.

I voted no- but only because I felt like calling everyone here nut jobs. If my car is rolling by then I'll be there . . . with my survival kit and trailer-mounted bomb shelter.

Kansas City isn't a bad place to hang.

Ya'll should take over Cripple Creek CO. Enough touristy stuff for the family, drives are out of this world cool. I think there is even a race track fairly close. Real close the the Presidential Bomb Shelter too!

If it's Kansas City,

There is always Richards Gebaur, the former Air Force base.

We could race on the flightline, and for the End-o-Times, they gots this really secure building just for us......

Can't tell you how many times I passed that thing going to see Mom in the base hospital.

If that don't work, I could probably remember the location of Atlas Missle silo or two near Salina. They gots one of the largest airfields in the world there.....

Think the Ruan flight around the world landed there for that reason..

rolleyes.gif I'm guessing you meant Branson MO confused24.gif not Mississippi biggrin.gif
- Lambert's Cafe - Home of the throwed rolls close-by (between Springfield & Branson), or along southern tier of MO state east to Poplar Bluff/Van Buren MO, or west along southern KS to KC area.

Eureka Springs AR is in the heart of things & nicer than Ft. Smith, or Fayetteville AR. Stuff around Lake Tenkiller/Cookson Hills in NE OK just north of I-40 also nice.

Joggerfee is simple folks - just look in the center for mountain ranges for best twisties!
> Ozarks to the south (AR, Southern KS & MO, eastern OK - incl. Ouchitas to southeast)

> Badlands & Tetons up north (Dakotas, Montana)

> Rockies N-S from Mex to Can - east slope, NM, CO, MT, WY, north NE sorta - but CO is pretty much most central No. to So. wise.

> Most everything else is pretty much flat prarie with an occasional bump! biggrin.gif

Then look for towns best road routes in & nearby airports for the fliers!

Hey Elliot, they've corrected that earlier translation with new advances in interpreting the Mayan glyphs. They now think it actually said:

"Please turn over for another 5,000 years."

Apparently it works much like the old self-winding watches from back in our youthful days! biggrin.gif

If you want Fort Smith, I know the roads up there from when we planned MUSR 8. Lots of GOOD twisties. Pig Trail, and Magazine Mountain come to mind. With a week, we can really burn up some tires.

Good hotels too.

Another idea.

How about a rolling event. We plan a route, with stops along the way. Not one area, but 4 or 5. Keep moving so the looters can't catch up to us. biggrin.gif

I was in Kansas City last month, and did a little driving along the KA, MO border areas. The city was nice, and very quaint if you are used to real cities. But the roads and surrounding areas were very 1 dimensional. Flat and straight. It reminded me a lot of where I grew up in north Texas.

between Indy and Kansas, I'd rather drive to Indy.

the center point in Kansas is ~24hours seat time from my place on the Right coast. So three days of driving if you allow yourself sleep and pee breaks. To drive there, I'd need to take a little over a week off work for 2 days at the party. For that kind of driving, I'd like to see some killer roads when I get there.

Zach

Zach, sounds like you were in Overland Park/Leawood area.....Yes very flat and boring! Go 15 minutes southeast into MO and it gets hilly and winding, lots of good 2 lane counrty black tops absent of law enforcement.2 hours south of KC into the Ozarks and you have tail of the dragon quality driving roads. It beautiful down there year round and especially devoid of traffic in the fall offseason

Sounds like multiple events on the same days for east west central people.

Between Ft.Smith & Van Buren there are lotsa hotel choices in all prices ~ plus the Cherokee Casinos are 15-30 miles west down 64 & I-40 at Roland & Sallisaw OK for the gamblers! biggrin.gif

Ft. Smith is close to where I need to be on Labor Day, 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month weekends too, which helps combining trips coming 1600 miles from SoCal!!!! driving.gif biggrin.gif

Zach - "agent" is right & the further toward the southern MO/AR & Northeast OK Ozarks you get - the more twisty the roads! ... & those are closer to you a bit, than KC, driving.gif ... & good BBQ in those parts too folks! chowtime.gif

BTW - by 24 hours seat time from central PA or Philly area, I'm guessing about 1600-1800 miles, which I've done in 24 door to door SoCal to Tahlequah OK ~ & you're a lot younger buck than me! biggrin.gif

My uncle used to do Santa Ana CA (SoCal to Pittsburgh in his 58 Vette on Rte 66 in the pre-interstate days, in 48 hours straight through on mostly the old 2-laners through town.

That was another idea I had too. Much along the lines of the "Hot Rod " power tour. We could have people join in at different stages, and drop out when they needed / wanted to. With the final destination being somewhere in the middle of the states confused24.gif
