Hey Rick, quick question. Are the sides "hot" or just the tips of the spot welder.

Oh ya, the copper is all hot but only when you press the little button on the handle. It is possible to arc the side of the hole. I will need to make a leather sleeve for the pass through.

Nice tool, wish I could use one a lot. The one I used in college in the 60's had a timer you adjust and a heat adjustment and it was a spot welder only. It had a three foot throat and 1 inch dia copper prongs. It had a switch but it only started the weld. I think it went to 150 amps. It may have gone to 200 amps, I know it would spot weld two pieces of 1/8 plate. Up to 1/2 spots. Spot welders make repairs look factory.

Do a google search for Lenco Panel spotter Rich. I actually had to get an adaptor to update my spotter or this would not work with mine. (too old)
