I found a Porsche 914 Puzzle from Piatnik (Company in Vienna / Austria, so not homemade) on german eBay recently.
It's still originally sealed and consists of 120 pieces.
Never seen it before ...

Nice. And ironic, considering how many pieces many 914s are made up of these days.

***The use of the s after 914 was strictly to indicate that I was referring to more than one 914. smile.gif

I contacted Piatnik to learn if the puzzle was still available.
They just answered my question ...

"this puzzle was sold 35 years ago ... we are sorry ..."

Hard to tell from the image, those could be 5-lug steel wheels with hubcaps ...

it has also got the "prototype side mirror" and the "prototype gas filler" - both like 914111 (tangerine 914-8) bye1.gif

Aha!

Are the windshield washer nozzles very close to the wiper arm base?
idea.gif Andy

PS: Can you post a higher resolution scan? It's really hard to make out details ...

..PO version,checkout the pillar bye1.gif

But more importantly, since it is 914 related, if you take it apart will it ever be put back together? idea.gif

Very interesting ... idea.gif
It looks to be neither 914.111 nor 914.114.

The only picture i have seen of 914.111 before it was converted to a /8 showed it using the same flat front bumper it has now and it already had the double headlights.

All the features (and color) point to 914.114, however, i don't recall seeing any evidence that 114 ever had the fuel filler door of 111.

It would look more realistic if it were on jack stands. Then it could be put back together properly.

that's the best scan I could get ...

Maybe its neither. Could it be another prototype we have no rpevious record of?

Considering that there are large gaps between known internal project numbers, i'd say that's a good possibility!

...
#10 - 914.111
#11 - 914.114

#21 - 914.006

#31 - 914.043.0019

The drama & mystery of these cars is so appealing idea.gif bye1.gif
P.S. the more I look at this 1 , the more I like it!!

Very cool, to bad we can't get a repo with our cars color on the puzzle...

Here is the detail from 914111
JeffBowlsby
Here are close-ups of the area on 914114...was previously curious about what all this lead build-up was doing on the cowl. The tank/filler spout could be original or changed. It was a prototype working model after all.
JeffBowlsby
But then again, 914114 has bright trim on the door tops, the puzzle car does not. confused24.gif

Could that be a factory hood badge.... stirthepot.gif

Yes. Because this is a prototype car. Anything you can think of was done to them, and then some.

Regarding the hood badge, no PRODUCTION car ever came with a badge from the factory.

Interesting point ...

There's only one person i know that could have a look at that and tell us if the underside of the cowl on 914.114 has evidence of a patch ...

Just bought the same puzzle (but with Swedish packing), intresting that they still can be found "NOS" in mint condition.

That looks exactly like the car on the puzzle and in the photos.

At a guess, the color did not reproduce so well, and came out more yellow on the puzzle than in person?

Too many differences from 914.111. See post #15 in this thread.

Later model or more likely 911 interior rear view mirror.
I'll bet the early 914 interior mirror was to imitate the shape of the rear window.
