Since last weekend, I've been wondering why the starter didn't engage upon hookup of the battery, and then I sort of remember that I didn't have the seat belt fastened..

Can someone give me a refresher on the seat belt / engine disable on a '74...

Just for the edification, the seatbelt interlock system simply ensures that IF there is a weight in the passenger seat, their seatbelt must be latched before the engine will start.

But Mike is absolutely right on the bypass trick.

Well. OK then. I didn't have the seat sensor hooked up, and the fasten seat belt light / buzzer didn't go off either.. .

Its been awhile since I drove my car...
