Is the 914 high-beam/low-beam relay a standard type of relay, and if so what type?

Of course and I can replace it with this:

But I'm just curious what it is... SPDT? SPST? Something else?

It is a mechanical relay. The momentary coil triggers, it pulls a cam past a pin that moves the cam. the coil triggers again, the same pin moves the cam to the other side. It works as a toggle. You can replace it with a $5 SAAB HL relay. You just have to add a ground and power lead to the relay. All other terminal #s are the same. You CAN NOT replace it with a standard SPST or DPST or DPDT. I did a write up on how to do this mod.

Awesome! That's exactly what I was looking for. I was guessing that there would be a better component for this now.

And I just found one on eBay for $5.95, free shipping... smile.gif

Here is a decent search for the part (the Saab relay seems to be a popular choice):

I know Jeff. The pic I posted is the SAAB electronic relay. The terminal connections are the same with the exception that the SAAB relay requires additional Power and ground.
