I was wondering what makes these two items different...is the 911 rotor machined different for the parking brake? Will the 911 rear rotor work on the 914-6?

Anyone have a used 914-6 and early 911 rear rotor they'd like to give me?

If cost is the factor, I wouldn't automatically assume the 914-6 rotors are too expensive or unavailable. I just got some 914-6 rotors at $35 apiece through normal wholesale import part sources. Not bad, I didn't think.

Actually, the 911 rotors are more expensive by a few dollars from the few places I've seen.....got a link or phone number for this place???

buy the way, I think the difference lies in backspacing, if you will. In other words, if you're using an early solid 911 rotor, you might need to add spacers between the caliper and the mounting flange or machine some surfaces. That's my guess.

I hope I'm not giving away any secrets of the inner circle here, but if you have some buddy who deals in import parts or service, he can order the rotors from IMC. SSF may have them as well.

Mike,

the rotors are different.. its not a bolt on thing.. I've done it on a rear that I ran vented....

The 911 parking brake is inside of a drum type hub in the rotor... (big heavy drum type hub)...

Thus the 914/6 parking brake was not and required a special rear caliper... (the reason these calipers are rare)....

To use the 911 rotor you will also have to turn it down in over all diameter.. and I also had to run a 2mm shim (wheel spacer) behind it.. (the reason I had 52mm studs on that car)..

Mike...

HPH has them in stock. For 35$ apiece and Partsheaven should have them also.
