BUMP TO DA TOP
Bobby Smith
Bump. This is a steal.

Happy to report that my 914 is no longer for sale and I am so glad that no one bought it. I have recently taken it out of storage done the routine maintenance required and she will be running again this weekend. Thanks to all that inquired.

So it took 12,900 for you to come to your senses...

You and that car are connected on a cellular level. If you don't need the cash, and its not costing you (much) to keep it- you (finally) made the right call.

CONGRATS!!!

Now go forth to the forest of cones and wreak havoc on the tail draggers and water pumpers!

(if I had a job and a spare 12,900 it'd be in MY garage...) evilgrin.gif
speed metal army
Yup!If I had a spare 15000 or so it would be up here. One of the coolest/quickest!
Im glad you are keeping the car. beerchug.gif

WTF.gif I was about to buy it.

Just kidding! I just sold my race car too. I will regret it someday. Keep it and enjoy it if you can.
Bobby Smith
Heading to Richmond VA this am to run her for the first time in almost 2 years. I'll let everyone how it goes. I've made quite a few changes in the past few weeks so it should be interesting.
Bobby Smith
After being in storage for nearly 2 years, "Black Magic" took FTD against 107 entrants in Richmond VA yesterday. My dog Duke congratulates me. It was a good day and I'm so glad I didn't sell my Baby. She a beast.
EdwardBlume
smilie_pokal.gif Seems like you still have it for a reason! Congrats!

Bobby,, do you track it? Your car would be a hoot at the FSR DE on the south course at VIR in September. I'm taking mine to a Rezoom DE at Barber Aug 18 & 19...first time there for me...
Bobby Smith
2nd FTD in a row yesterday since bringing her out of retirement. We're on a roll. smilie_pokal.gif

Since the car was an un-registered weapon before, what are the "quite a few changes" if you don't mind sharing... I know I'm interested to see how the car is evolving now that its back on your radar and back on track.

I took the engine/tranny out and pulled the heads just to freshen things up. The engine only had about 8 hours on it and the heads looked good. Replaced all fuel lines, put on a hi torque starter, new battery and tires (this time running radial slicks).
Also replaced master cyl and bled brakes. Tried stiffer rear springs and a different shock setting (going back to old springs and shocks next time). I'm very happy with the car.

Jeez Bobby, you're doing all of this work and you don't give me a call to come assist/supervise?

Lets drink a beer soon! beerchug.gif

Do you know the HP to the rear wheels? Probably about 245-250hp at the crank, right? Thanks!
Bobby Smith
HP at crank is 194 but the torque curve is as flat as the state of Texas. 200 Ft Lbs at 3,000 rpm and 215 at 4,000. Pulls like a freight train.

215 ft lbs of torque at the crank. VERY NICE. flag.gif

It would make a good hill climb car, with a bit more cage!
Bobby Smith
Took 3rd FTD in row yesterday. I know the F/S area is not the place for me to brag but after having this car for sale here for such a long time, it sure is FUN bragging about how fast it is and how someone missed a great deal. Whew...I'm sure glad no one bought her.

smile.gif Kickass!°
Bobby Smith
Alright...I'll try to make this my last post about how fast this car is but took 4th FTD in a row yesterday in Richmond VA at RIR. She is a beast. Will probably switch back to 914/6 for the next few events for a little variety.
Bobby Smith
Car is no longer for sale but since this thread is already established, I thought I'd post setup for 2013 season with new Avon slicks. Cheers driving.gif

Bobby
Where did you buy the Avons
Understand they are like glue!

Have not run them yet but register very soft on durometer. Got them from Sasco in Danville VA. Shipped from England and take a long time to arrive. I ordered early in Jan. Pricy too, I hope to try them this Sunday.
ottox914
This car is everything an autox 914 should be.

A dream of mine and nightmare to others.

Congrats, you are a lucky man to have such a weapon.

Enjoy.

Your rules say your tires can extend past the fenders?

Yes, I usually run SCCA auto-x and local clubs that use SCCA rules. In E/M 1/2 of the tire must be covered when viewed from above.
