You know, win or lose this has been fun.
It's made us go back and relive some of the history of Huey: from where he started, to the initial build and all the work and late hours we put in, to the events, more hours, the wreck (ok, that's not fun) and the subsuquent rebuild...then all the work to get it to run correctly...to what we have now which is such a fun car to drive.
Huey and our adventures have been written up in:
Porsche Panorama
Excellence
Autobahn Ambition online magazine
Carolinas Region Tobacco Roads
Peachstate Presse
We got mention in Grassroots Motorsports and BMW Roundel
and this guy recreated him for a video game....how cool is that!
This little car has added a lot to our lives, some a bit sad and frustrating, but mostly fun and enjoyment. I cant' even begin to think about how much money we've put into him.
we take him to every event we can, we now autocross him more (now that we got some A6 tires!!) and we love to share him with everyone that appreciates the hard work and countless hours that goes into this addiction.
Huey and Papa Smurf are part of our family. Nadine and I routinely refer to them as our kids: I'll be working on them in the garage and Nadine will come out asking 'so, how are the kids doing?'.
If he wins COTM, we would be honored. If not, so be it - maybe we'll be nominated again. But thanks to whoever nominated him, it's forced us to go back and look at how far this little guy has come!
(btw, this is my post #700!!)
