I only have the drive gear left in mine. Just getting a slow but constant drip-drip. Do you or anyone else know if this will seal the penetration without the right-angle part of the mechanism in place? It looks like it may. If not, I'll probably go with machining an additional gland into my plug and two fresh o-rings. Thanks! - Todd

Todd-

Thank you for question. I can't tell from your picture, but do you have the intermediate piece between the right and what looks like a tube? The intermediate piece kind of looks like a threaded hex pipe plug that threads on to the right angle drive then threads internally into the case.

The oil seal goes is inside case as seen below.

The intermediate piece is the red arrow. The location of the oil seal is the green arrow.

EDIT: It looks like you have the might have the remains of the oil seal in your picture.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't had it out yet, but I think the last of what you see in the photo is #23 in the schematic. My first 901, and I've only had it since just before x-mas so total rookie yet. What I think I've got is this.... with the plug sitting on what is showing in my first photo. It must be the intermediate piece you are talking about just before the right-angle.

This looks to be a hydraulic rod seal (used in a hydraulic cylinder). Normally, hydraulic fluid under pressure forces the seal to expand against the rod, sealing it from fluid loss. It may work for your application. Hard to see it, it may simply be a rod wiper used to scrape debris on the rod so it is not carried into the seal.

In this photo the drive on the right is a stock 901 drive with single o-ring.
The one on the left has the machined second o-ring. It is the way to go to stop oil leakage. McMark will fix you up with one of these.

Thanks both for your help. Just ordered from McMark. You've got lots of great offerings, I'm sure I'll be back for something else. biggrin.gif
