I have to get a quick visual inspection of my car tmw to get it registered in CA (because its out of state). they are not interested in anything other than just seeing the VIN# to confirm the car on the paperwork is really the car I brought in. Its not like a DOT inspection or safety or anything like that.

Anyway, i know the VIN # is on the drivers door jamb and on the tab by the windshield... any other locations? They only need to see it on two places, but I would like to have 3 ready to show them just in case.

Your VIN can be found in three locations on your car:

• VIN stamped into the passenger side front fender well.
• '70 - '74 VIN plate riveted to the passenger side headlight bucket.
• '75 VIN plate riveted to the front firewall.
• VIN tag on the drivers side windshield pillar (USA only).
• On 914-6 cars, the VIN starts with "914", on 914-4 cars the VIN starts with "47".
