I have an Racemark steeering wheel , the leather is shot and seems to be bubbling something from inside out.
So I attaked it with a band saw. Strange inards, U shaped steel channel ,rivetted to the spokes and then coated with a rubber like goo.

I like my 370mm prottipo in my GT, so I decied to make my Racemark 370mm
Rolled a piece of 6061 al 1.05 dia. to 370mm and welded it to the spokes.

Throw it out and buy one that isn't trashed.

I searched everyware for Corinthian leather, No luck.

So off to the auto parts store, and found , gheto swade.
Otherwise known as spray bedliner.

looks and feels fine for my driver.

So that is one big steel ring??? You will want to find some type of cover as it will burn your hands when you leave it parked in the sun.. Still, pretty cool, what does it weigh??

Its an aluminum tube . It is way lighter than the way it was. If I like it I am thinking about trying to stich up a leather cover .
In WA state i dont really have to worry about to much sun.

Nice wrk ! Im still looking for an early adapter for my racemark/914 , someone said my hub was for a 912?

So I just acquired the very same wheel rolleyes.gif
Leather is good but the (Red) stitching is all but shot.
It seems to suffer the same affliction as yours at the very top of the wheel where
its seems to have swelled from the sun and popped the stitching ... sad.gif
Not sure what to do with it, looks very much like a Prototipo

It looks freakin great w00t.gif !!! because of the thin spokes your steering wheel would be a perfect candidate for 'wheelskins' leather covering!! They sell them on ebay in whatever color, grip and overall diameter!

How did you attach the aluminum tube to the steel center?
gothspeed
^^ I think the center tri-spoke was aluminum too, welded together smile.gif
