The end of October is almost here, gotta start planning next years vacation. The last WCR party before the end of the world December 21, 2012!

So is anyone planning this event or are we voting on where it's being held?

Somebody needs to step up. I realize after such an amazing 2011 WCR you just don't think you can do it . Don't be intimidated by the guys who did such an amazing job this year

I hope that whoever steps up selects a scenic location again. Medford and Lake Tahoe were terrific locations and made the WCR feel like a vacation.

In any case, i'm looking forward to the 2012 WCR.

Yeah I think that was the plan. I think Andy decided it wasn't the time for him though . I'm sure he will chime in.

The only reason to have people planning now is it takes alot of time. I am assuming it will be in the late spring early summer again. It is kind of up to whoever sets it up though. There are alot of people who are setting their vacation plans with work. The sonner they get their time off on the calender. The better chance they have of having it off

I vote for Monterey... Autocross at Marina, amazing drives along the coast. Kinda cool at night though.

I don't think Andy and Amoy really Volunteered. Maybe Amoy did but Andy doesn't have that kind of time... Andy?

Monterey is on the Central Coast, about two hours from Paso Robles (Wine Country), San Simeon (Hearst Castle) or 3 hours from Pismo Beach or Santa Maria!

Just minutes from my second home in Atascadero, California. Would be nice to go back home for a few days!

You should have it in Chicago.

Paso....wine country and Big Sur....that would be great.

Good times to be had all over that area--all sorts of lodging even camp spots near San Simeon or up in Big Sur if that's your thing.

The Central Coast would be nice. We could probably utilize some of the driving roads from Targa California as well.

Avoid Paso in summer....way hot.

Saratoga CA---> up Hwy 9 -->Skyline blvd--->Hwy 17--->to Santa Cruz---> Monterey-->Pismo (Last stop is a LONG drive)

We did the first one here in the Bay Area in 2004...

I like the central coast idea so that it becomes kind of a NorCal-SoCal meet up in between, convenient to a high concentration of 914 owners.

Cambria? SLO town? Atascadero? Thats GPR territory...I smell sponsorship....

Maybe mirror "04" with a parade lap at Mazda again! I may have to bring out two cars for that one!

You are correct Sir, i won't have the time to put in to make an event like this happen. I'd rather see someone else step up and do it right.

I love SLO town, as I went to college there....lots of great food and nightlife.

I think the PNW guys that attended last year think that Medford (and the hosts)
should become the permanent home of the Ramble.

Just need a local to step up and volunteer to take the lead. Seriously, Monterey and Mazda are awsome!

The event Jeff planned was great! We had something like 75 cars show up.

I think Ron got a ticket.

If no one volunteers, I may just do that.

I love Monterey but it can get expensive there. Stay away from times anything else is going on.
During big events hotel prices go up and they start requiring minimum of 2 or 3 nights.

There are county campsites at the racetrack though

Ya, the hotel was expensive but nice and had a nice big parking ramp we could hang out on. There is camping at the track. Theback roads, the shear number of cars that this location will draw! We had so many cars we had to break up in run groups.

Click on the link below in my sig space. This was done by my son and his friends as a school final project. The school agreed to let them out early if they did a video on the final build of the Alien and the trip. I agreed to bring my sons two friends if they helped finish the car. It was a great bonding experience and an awesome trip.

We need Jeff to head this up. I was part of the planning in "04" I would help again if Jeff was heading it up. He a great planner!

I would lend a hand if needed. We could also ask the Central Coast Chapter of the VVWOA to participate or for some logistics help.

I'd be willing to help with the Central Coast planning should someone step up to be that guy.

Monterey area is definitely a great idea. I'm definitely in for helping out.

Have the Doubletree-inflicted scars from 2007 healed up that well?

As penance for bringing that up, I'll do what I can to help in a minor role. Maybe volunteering will help me keep the teeners front and center...

My apologies - I enjoyed hanging out with you at the event (remember mini-golf?) and was appalled at the situation afterwards. I thought enough time might have passed for it to have become humorous, but it's typical for me to mis-judge.

Since we're looking at Monterey area, I'll contact LPR-PCA AX head and see what's involved with either sharing their event, or helping LPR put on a Friday event we could have to ourselves (an other PCA members who are off on Fridays).

I'm also looking at a cheap little hotel in Seaside.

As far as I know , Slits threw Elliott's hat in the ring Sunday, over lunch. It was kind of loud but I think Elliott was entertaining the idea. You'd have to ask Ron if Elliott agreed or not.

Monterey area is easy. Just follow Jeffs 2004 event, same hotel, same breakfast, Same twisty roads tour, Another parade lap around Mazda, AX with the PCA. Great event, great places, more cars than you could get anyplace. We just need someone local to take the lead.

I like SLO, great night life downtown for those that want. Drive north on the coast for the twisties. Cambria for lunch or Cayucos. Might be aboe to get some other local P car guys to join. My concern would be rain the later in the year it goes and SLO is real nice this time of the year but north on 1 tends to be cooler with fog.

I can also guarentee that by that time I will have Shat or goten off the pot with GPR. Never been to an event ( ) so what are the likely things people will want to do. How many "drives" need to be planned?

I used to work at a resteraunt/hotel so I might be able to get a deal there. Used to work construction with John Madonna (Madonna Inn) so might come in handy. Mark works for the State so we might get an in at one of the nearby state parks. Grandfather has the record for the highest speed on the 101 with a police escort bringing up the rear.

I just might do this if everyone wants SLO
