The SS wall is quite a bit thinner as well - maybe 50-60% less.

How about compared to stock 1.8 HE's ? Must be a really big difference.

If my calcs are correct, Area of Ellipse = 2.143 x A x B, where A = short radius and B = long radius which results in:
Area = 634 mm2 for the SS HE
Area = 546 mm2 for the stock HE
The SS HE pipe area is about 16% larger than the stock HE area. Not bad. But then you loose some sealing area due to the thinner wall tubing.
