getting a 74 in with gt flares im gonna keep this one . what is the max width of wheel you can get under them.also looking for photos,ill prob buy fuchs for it.so i wanna know how wide i can go.any input would be great thanks

I run 9's with 245's. If its the standard gt flare I don't see a 10..

With a 16" you dont have to worry to wide because they dont make them for a street tire,
I have 245 ES100's on 8" wheels and the tires dont look very wide under the flares, I have 1" spacers that move them out to look better.
I plan on getting 17" wheels in the future so I can get some 285"s back there. Any wider than 285 and I think you would need wider flares. I know
some have 310's on widened gt flares.

standard GT flares with wheels that have the perfect offset:

front:
8" with 245 tires

rear:
9" with 285 tires

you might be able to squeeze more than 245 under the front, but you won't be able to turn those suckers anymore as they will hit the fenderwell.

PS: i currently run 225 on 7" in the front with a 1" 1/4 spacer. it is *TIGHT* in there.
i don't see how you could fit 8" in there PLUS still having 2 1/2" to play with ...

Not to step on someone's toes but you sure you get 285's under the rear flares? Maybe depends whether you are using steel or FG flares? Don't know.
255's (on 17" rims) seemed to fit perfectly with steel flares. I now put 275's on these rims and I'm happy I didn't weld on the flares yet. Will need to work the metal a bit to make it fit over the tire.
I believe the offset of the rims is 15mm and I am using a 1/4 inch spacer. There is just room between the tire and the trailing arm for a (small) finger.

I had 245/45s on a 16x8 Fuch with a 3/4 inch spacer. Had to grind the lip of the flare out and it fit by an RCH.

the 285's on 9" are a very tight fit, but i have seen them mounted.
as far as i know those were FG flares ...

BUT i also know of a few factory GT's that ran the 285 on 9" in the 70ties.
and they had steel flares.

255/40 17 on a 9.5" wheel I really don't see room for much more tire. With these I had to add a 25mm spacer to get clearence on the inside and cut the lip on the outside.

I am running 285/40-15s on the rear on 9" Fuchs. The car has factory steel flares and the tires do rub on the inside sidewall, on the outside tire, coming out of a turn under power. Under normal driving the tires only rub as the suspension is compressed by a large bump. The clearance (when the car is siiting with no one inside) on the outside sidwall to fender is less than 1/4". This will get better as the suspension compresses.

I plan on mounting narrower tires when these wear out. There has been no visible wear on the inside sidewall. The main drawback is the high pitched squeal as you come out of turns. It appears to be difficult to find high performance tires in the 245/45-15 size these days. My tires are never used, ten year old P7s. They are not cracked, just hard. They still have the mold flashing on them. I am curious as to what people are running on the rears that have been purchased in the last few years.
