Woke up this morning....( a song there somewhere)..

looked at the temperature outside....31 deg F. and change...below freezing....This about kills my motivation to finish the car and drive it around the block until spring...

Winter project will be

1. get the motor running
2. body and fender pounding
3. prep for paint.
4. Rust repair...

What are your winter projects??

Same as the past 4 winters... Get the darn thing to look like a car again biggrin.gif

What are your winter projects??

get the motor running
head out on the highway
go look for adventure
in whatever comes my way ...

remove, rebuild, and replace the 911's engine
remove, rebuild, and replace the transmission
remove, rebuild and replace the 911's brakes and suspension
remainder of track prep -- roll bar, belt mounts, etc...

your basic 'strip out all the running gear, rebuild it, replace it' winter refit.

each of those tasks blossoms into a thousand subtasks, of course ...

Parade is the end of June -- love to have it done earlier - but that is the goal ...
i love porsche
finish the chassis before winter (hopefully by next week to send it to the body shop to have it stripped and painted on the underside and engine bay) and install the wiring harness!

Has been below freezing nights here for a while but I am still going to get my car running this fall. But my winter projects are:

Finsish tearing down 2.0 motor
Build up 2.0 motor - TBD how it gets built, new pistons, Cylinders? Heads reworked?

Pull 1.7 out of car, clearn engine bay.

Bunch of electrical stuff

New targa seals

And probably a whollotta stuff I don't even know about yet.

Yeah, what winter? Heat index was over 100 yesterday. About time that AC stops churning and my electricity bill goes down so I can buy some parts.
watsonrx13
Winter, oh, you mean when the temp drops below 50F?

Our 'winters' are the summer months where the heat index is above 100 and afternoon showers. Not that a little heat and some rain would stop me from working on the car, especially since it's on jack stands.

BTW, what is snow and why do you need to heat your garage/shop?

Winter project:

1. Get rebuild motor from Joe (you DA MAN).
2. Remove the sound deadening in the passenger compartment.
3. Rebuild pedal cluster.
4. Repair rust in rear trunk.
5. Repaint engine compartment, passenger compartment, rear trunk.
6. Reinstall interior, including new carpet and seats.
7. Install engine/trans, adjust gas and clutch cables. Adjust trans linkage.
8. Install new brake pads and MC, then adjust brakes.
9. Install PORed gas tank and new fuel lines.

10. DRIVE THE CAR for the first time in 2 years.

Guys -
If either one of you would have came to the MUSR, you would have actually experienced some pleasant, fall weather..... 50F in the evenings... 65F tops during the day...............
Sorry we missed you! LOL

What are your winter projects??
  • Drive with the top off more, since I won't have to worry about gettin' drenched on the way to work.
  • Change the oil without sweatin' my balls off in all the humidity (\"UGH! I can't breathe. Water ... iced tea ...).
  • Install new carpeting without sweatin' my balls off.
  • Finally stop sweatin' my balls off.

For all you guys and gals in warm sunny climate...bite me!! blink.gif

UPDATE I used my truck, jumped from the truck to the starter and transmission, poured gas down the throttle bodies.....turned the key and lit the floor on fire....

IT LIVES!!!!

Now to put in a new starter, battery, larger battery cables and repair my MS relay plate......I should be able to do this this weekend......

no snow yet....I might get the car around the block before the snow flies.......
crash914
I just repaired my relay plate, soldered a couple of wires to replace the burnt traces...works!!!

Now waiting on a new starter...... mad.gif

Will this never end??
